No, Metal Gear 1 and 2 are not playable on any PS3. They are MSX games from 1988.

As for Metal Gear 3, that game doesn't exist.

actually Metal Gear 1 and 2 are playable on the Playstation 3, if you bought Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsitance (PS2) by itself (not if collectors box). Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake are both on the bonus disc.

Ive played both the MSX Metal Gear games in glorious upscale 1080p through my PS3.

I bought the Metal Gear Collection, and they work on the 60 gb. Metal Gear 1 in that set is a ps1 game, works as well...

Metal Gear 1 and 2 (there is no Metal Gear 3) are two games that came out for the MSX2. They tell the stories of Solid Snake's infiltration of Outer Heaven and Zanzibarland.

Metal Gear Solid, is the jump to 3-D and to the Playstation system. Metal Gear Solid tells the story of Shadow Moses, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty tells the story of The Big Shell Incident, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is a prequel to the entire series and chronologically #1 out of all 7 games and tells the story of the Big Boss/Naked Snake and the Virtous Mission and Operation Snake Eater.

There are 7 games in the Metal Gear canon, chronologically they go like this.

Metal Gear Solid 3
Metal Gear Solid: Port Ops.
Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Solid 4

nope, both Portable Ops for the PSP and MG and MG2: Solid Snake have information in them that is relevent to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Especially MG2: Solid Snake. You cannot fully understand or appreciate MGS IV without knowing the contents of MG2: Solid Snake.

Not sure about you guys, but I've had some troubles playing Metal Gear Solid 3 : the game freezes eventually, every now and then...

I've never had any other problem of any kind with any other PS2 or PS3 games on my console, that's the only one I experienced this with.

Try Subsistence, ran with fewer issues when I tried both many SS versions ago.
