Love this film!! One of the most acclaimed samurai movies, no less directed by Okamoto.

No love for Nakadai? For those who haven't seen it, Mifune is only in a couple of scenes. One of them is a great sword fight scene, but don't get your hopes up for a movie revolving around Mifune. Tatsuya Nakadai is the star of this film.

One of the no-brainer upgrades (surprised it took Criterion so long to release it on Blu). Though unlikely I wish they would also upgrade Samurai Rebellion.

Sword of Doom wasn't one I thought I wanted to own at the time, but I do want to see it again, and I have a feeling it will only rise in my estimation on repeat viewings. Will definitely have to buy this one. But Samurai Rebellion, yes, now that's a Nakadai/Mifune movie I love love love; definitely waiting for Criterion to upgrade that one (or that whole sixties samurai boxset of theirs would be amazing why not). ![]() |

I never heard of that film until i click on the cover on amazon.ca because i thought the cover looks fantastic. Call me stupid but this is why i'm interrested in this now. I watch trailer, see a couple of stills and of course, read the plot... and i'm very interrested ! I will discover this classic in blu-ray first, i like Blu !
