Default Ain't It Cool News picks HD DVD

Hey i don't know if any of you guys read or even heard of this site "Aint it cool News" but they are one of the most popular Movie sites on the internet. They are usually the first to get any kind of major news about current movies coming out. I read one of their posts about how one of their members just bought into HDDVD and they just don't have all the facts correct. All the people on that site spread soooo much bad rubbish about everything around the internet. This just made me angry that i have spent so much time before i decided on one format and this guy just went and bought one because all of his "film buddies" said that HDDVD was the winning format. Who are these "film buddies"? He NEVER went into any of the major technical details that differ in the both formats. This link i am giving has something else fishy about it. All the films that are shown are owned by warner brothers. Just seems like this guy was bought out by Warner brothers for promoting HDDVD. https://forum.blu-ray.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif Well here is the link:

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/32838

I thought this was important enough to tell you guys.
What do you guys think about this?https://forum.blu-ray.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

Default IGN is for HD-DVD

My favorite gaming website is most certainly behind the HD-DVD "movement." I thought they were better than that.

"and right now... there's something along the lines of 545 titles on HD DVD and only 62 for Blue Ray. That's nearly getting close to 10 to 1 in terms of selection. AND - a lot of Reg DVDs are beginning to master in higher resolutions - like I'm watching a reg. DVD that was actually mastered at 1080i, that I had seen in my other player - and now... it's just perfect."

wow - sickening. Just sickening. Still, AICN have jumped on a whole bunch of bandwagons in the past that have ended up riding into the abyss of obscurity. And it has been proven in the past that AICN can be bought.

Still, this shameless plug for hd-dud, filled with fud (especially in the talkback section) is enough to make a reasonable person vomit.

Uh, they simply reported the news that just about every other AV related site has also reported, which is that Toshiba is proclaiming an increase in sales due to the promotion. I see no spinning or slanting in the article, nor did I see any when High Def Digest or any of the other tech sites reported it. Tech sites report on press releases from the different companies, such as the articles when Casino Royale shipped 100k copies and Warner announced they had sold 100k copies of The Departed.

Not to mention the fact that the have given Blu-Rays very good reviews - it was their review that got me hyped for Casino Royale and convinced me it was time to go neutral.

If you've spent any time on that site in the last few years you know that Harry has become nothing more than a shill. I'll bet that MS or Toshiba sent him a free player and some movies and all of a sudden he decides to support HD-DVD.

last time I counted:

Code:
Blu-ray

USA
274 available 274/11 = 25 monthly in the US

HD DVD

USA
227 available 227/13 = 17 monthly in the US

Why don't we turn this thread into list of sites that have joined the blu-ray bashing bandwagon, just for fun? Making anti-sony comments nowadays seems to be the easy way out for increasing hits, but these sites should be remembered for their actions.

Someone can maintain an updated list on top, and the consensus public opinion makes sure that the list is on the side of fairness.

Let me start with the obvious - Kotaku.

Harry (Headgeek) isn't exactly the brightest bulb in the room these days. Never was and never will be.

By the way, 'Ain't It Cool' need a serious upgrade. It ain't looking cool these days.

Harry Knowles is a really freakin' easy lay - it's common knowledge to anyone with enough brain cells to see through the charades. He has absolutely no scruples, and it really isn't that hard to detect.

This comic sums him up rather nicely, I think -

I find it interesting that his little announcement coincided with Toshiba's fire sale... err, promotion. Coincidence... or sentient evil?

Not just that, I find Harry to be quite a creep these days. Especially after reading his lengthy and filthy article on the TV series, 'Heroes' a few months ago.

(shudders)

The only reason why he went with HD DVD is because it's the cheap way to go. I guess people would rather compromise the quality of movie watching in exchange for a low price.

You get what you pay for. Especially with all these Warner Bros. titles.

Why don't we apply turnabout is fair play, and totally invent and push as fact complete and utter nonsense too?

- HD DVD supporters just won't accept that Universal has gone neutral, and Paramount is about to announce they are going BD exclusive.

- Just wait until the sales of Star Wars on Blu-ray are counted this September.

- How is HD DVD going to compete now that Sony has announced a BD player for $250?

- What about that Department of Justice lawsuit against Microsoft and their bribes of news sites to attack Blu-ray?

I work with an internet retailer that offers both HD DVD and Blu-ray and our HD DVD players have easily outsold our BD players 10 to 1. All of the tests we've run between the two formats make us lean toward HD DVD also. The picture quality and faithful color reproduction stood out much greater than Blu-ray. I'm not counting Blu-ray out, but we've seen a preference for HD DVD in the market.

Angry Aint it cool news picks wrong format

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/32838

Harry Knowles of Aint it cool news posted an article praising HD-dvd over Blu-ray. He has removed some of the ridiculous false statements already. He stated earlier that there were 10 times more HD-Dvd titles available than Blu-ray. He is still pretty much saying that Blu-ray players won't play standard DVDs.

From Aintitcool.com
What made me go HD DVD?

The kicker is... that it can play the 9000 or so DVDs I already have, as well as the HD DVDs. That Backwards compatibility feels right. Also - from the demonstrations I've seen, HD DVD looks better than the BLUE RAY discs. I also love that the player has an upconversion that raises the quality of my existing DVD library to 720p and sometimes 1080i. I've already tested it out and DVDs that I watched last time I watched them - look better than they had before.

What a monk. I mean, I don't get it. Just the simple fact that BD has more storage capacity should be enough to prove it's got more going for it...and the player he has (and I have, but at least I knew it going in), only outputs 1080i. Not 1080p.
