Thanks for the heads-up. Possibility of evolving into a world-wide release.

There's already an amazon preorder up for The 7th Dwarf 3D BD. The release date is stated to be August 18.

Don't know anything about it aside from Shout Factory distributing it here in the USA.

I did find this YouTube trailer for "The 7th Dwarf" 3D, but I am not sure if this is for the same movie.

Looks like another one of those post-Shrek movies from a decade ago. Hoodwinked, Happily N'Ever After etc. That doesn't mean it will automatically be bad, but unless the 3-D is N-Wave good, I'll probably give it a miss.

I was thinking that too; thinking of Hoodwinked, though this looks a bit better for the characterizations and style. Hoodwinked Too's 3D was lacking sadly most of the time, with mild 3D.

Hopefully they won't play it safe with the 3D here.

I have to agree. The animation looks very cheap....almost looks like a Barbie movie that goes straight to DVD,imo.

Bit the bullet for the team and am very surprised about this one. The 3D seems amazingly strong -(so far). N-Wave good for depth satisfaction. Haven't noticed excessive pop-out yet, but if there is I will report when I view the complete movie.

Also, I'm surprised about the quality graphics and solid looking 3D CGI. Nothing like Hoodwinked Too 3D. This has a very professional look. A lot of eye-candy detail - so far. The soundtrack also seems to have a quality tone to it.

Thanks Paul. Amazingly strong 3D? Wow, that's surprising but nice to hear. It shows they know a big part of what makes 3D worth watching, so good news indeed.

If it's Shout, does that mean it's region A locked?

First the Maya The Bee Movie, now this. I hate Shout Factory.

This movie dropped off my radar, probably because this thread was short lived and the fact that I had never seen it any stores upon release. It started popping up really cheap on Ebay a lot recently so I made my purchase.

I would just like to say I second what Paul has said and was having the same thoughts while watching this little jem and some recent N-Wave movies did come to mind while watching it, depth was great with lots of shots forward of the screen, a couple of pop-outs also. I would say that it was made with the intention of having this in 3D rather than the 3D being an afterthought and this being full screen is always a plus for 3D.
I also liked the few references or homage to some older major movies one being
[Show spoiler]a slow motion Matrix scene

The soundtrack was good with good use of the surround speakers, there are also a few songs which were quite catchy, although the movie didn't feel like a musical to me, the story held my attention and I wasn't wishing for it to hurry up and end as I have done with a few 3D B-movies I have seen in the past, wife and daughter also enjoyed it and they are very critical of these types of movies now.

I recommend it for the price, bought my copy from this seller that excepted my offer of $2 https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odk...=3d&_sacat=617 I think the seller has a lot of these to shift.
There's an old saying, don't judge a book by its cover, well the artwork for the seventh dwarf could be used in the same context IMHO.

I just took another one off his hands. At that price, what the hey. Appears he has 3 left (went from 4 separate listings to 3). Get 'em while you can, blu-rah!

The 1.84:1 1080p MVC 3D picture is absolutely enchanting! The CG-animated 3D is effectively dimensional, with wonderful visual perspectives. Depth is excellent, and there is the occasional but effective out-of-screen effects that add visual impact. Character weight is well rendered with realistic volume. The color palette is beautifully saturated with vibrant and rich hues and is warmly hued. Contrast is superb with deep, solid blacks and shadow definition. The animation exhibits incredible resolution with fine detail exhibited throughout in characters, foregrounds, and backgrounds. This is a magnificent animated 3D picture that is absolutely visually engaging. (Gary Reber)

Received the coveted reference material 5+ rating!

OK guys,

Put in a two buck offer like db5 so it would be total $4.66. If it gets raves from my buddies Paul, Wild Bill, Kurosawa and db5 - well, that's all I need to know!

At first was worried because disc was from Germany but then realized it was a German film itself!

I loved the voice acting of Nina Hagen. One of my favorite recording artist of the 80's. I will have to watch this again cause I barely remember any thing about the story.

Thanks DB. These ones were available at some of the Dollar Trees for $1. Never made it to mine though so I'm happy to pay a few bucks more. Tried for $2 first, but that one sold for the $3, so just went ahead and bought one of the other listings for $3. Looks like they come with slipcovers too, which makes it even better.
