Another for the Film Noir thread . For those in the UK, this was released under the title "The Scar" over there

Great news!

Funnily enough, I bought this DVD a few months ago for a low price when it was first released, because I had the impression that a Blu-ray would not see the light of day. Looks like I'll be upgrading soon.

I hope they release a blu-ray of Night of the Living Dead. It's listed on their website, possibly a DVD?

It's getting a BD release. Akijama posted info about that a month or so ago+

Definitely adding Film Detective to my radar and will probably purchase several titles if they turn out not to be scrubbed clean.

Thumbs up

I didn't like Hollow Triumph but DOA is a must as long as its not DNRd to death.. Maybe Night of the Living Dead, maybe Carnival of Souls. Reviews of the films on blu from them will be the key for me

Anyone know where these blurays can actually be purchased? The film detective website has no info at all, nor does amazon, nor does anywhere else on the internet that I can find. I feel like a victim of a hoax here. It says these are available "11/24". November 24 of what year???

Default Blu-ray Release Update

Just wanted to give everyone an update. The blu-ray releases are being delayed, as we were very interested in getting as much feedback from everyone as possible and accordingly improving our final releases. The good news is we will be releasing Beat the Devil in its original aspect ratio, Salt of the Earth, and Hollow Triumph at the end of the year. These will all have closed captions and we will be using no noise reduction on any of the transfers for blu-ray. We appreciate all the feedback and encouragement. The discs will be distributed and manufactured as originally planned by Allied Vaughn.

Has there been any update? Obviously it didn't make it out by the end of the year. When might we see Hollow Triumph?

Latest FB info was that they are hoping to get the first titles out in April. They pushed the release dates in order to better accommodate the recommendations of forum members re: not using DNR, determining correct AR, etc.

Maybe next month?? These 3 films ( that are supposedly being released by film detective - Beat the Devil, Salt of the Earth, and Hollow Triumph) are still not listed on amazon or anywhere else that I could find. Except...I just got an email from classicflix that had this link:

https://classicflix.com/Restored-Bea...ampaign=buffer

I'll be so happy if they'll finally be released and if Film Detective starts churning out releases. I will support their efforts by ordering if the prints are half decent. Beat the Devil and Hollow Triumph in particular. And then who knows? A BD release of D.O.A.??

Are they going to be pressed BD-ROMs now? I remember Film Detective originally mentioned using BD-Rs, which everyone was (rightfully) upset about..

well obviously that didn't happen, and now it's JUNE of the "next year".
so what year are you now saying these bds will be coming out?--2016, 2017, 2018........(?)
would love to get an update if this company even still exists, because we've gone through this sort of thing before with some other releases.

My pre-order for all 3 titles had been changed to show an Aug.4/2015 release. However, today I received an email from Amazon that the titles are still unavailable and they needed approval to keep order in pending status.
I selected keep order even though no updated release info was available.

Delayed yet again, per Amazon. "Temporarily out of stock". Sept . 8th had been the release date. This has become a weird little obsession for me, getting Hollow Triumph and Beat the Devil, and will they finally be released, etc. Guess we'll keep waiting.

So I got this and Beat The Devil in the mail today and checked it in a few spots. It has the original title of Hollow Triumph on the print and not The Scar from the re-release. Black levels are solid, sound seems decent. Looks like a slightly lower tier Olive release, but not having watched it yet, I'm going to take a guess and say this is the probably going to be the best version out there.
