Default Why are there so many Canadians in American movies?

Why are there so many Canadians in American movies? And than second in line British?

Some American movies and TV shows with some Canadians.

Stargate SG-1
Stargate atlantis

Pamela Anderson
Famous for: Baywatch, Barb Wire

William Shatner
Famous for: Star Trek, being William Shatner

Dan Aykroyd
Famous for: Ghostbusters, The Blues Brothers

Michael J. Fox
Famous for: Back to the Future

Keanu Reeves
Famous for: The Matrix, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure

Jim Carrey The Mask

Nathan Fillion TV series Firefly

Emmanuelle Chriqui
Elisha Cuthbert
Paul Haggis

Justin Chatwin War of the Worlds

Critters 1986 Nadine Van der Velde

Screamers 1995
Cube
My Bloody Valentine
Wrong Turn 2: Dead End
The Dead Zone
Silent Hill
White Noise

Is just some of the American movies with Canadians actors. Canada has population of 35,540,419 of 2014. Yet I know many states with large population and they are hardly in movies.

Is this Canadian government paying Hollywood to get some Canadians in American movies?

I know they filmed a lot of movies in Canada because it is cheaper. But what is up with so many Canadians in American movies.

And than second in line is lot of British in movies.Like in the TV show walking dead there is some British actors like Andrew Lincoln , Lauren Cohan- Maggie Greene ,David Morrissey- The Governer , Lennie James- Morgan James.

And some others on Hershel Farm in the walking dead. And fake a horrible southern accent that does not get any where close to true southern accent .

It would be like American in TV show trying to do accent of the old British.

Some times I wander if it is the government in those countries have a deal with Hollywood.

And yet some people in some states are hardly in movies.

Because so many movies shoot in Canada because it's cheaper to do so.

I've actually wondered what's with so many British people on US TV. Not just actors, but TV hosts, correspondents, etc.

Precisely. Worry about more important things, like, how did we end up babysitting "The Biebs"? I don't recall the Canadian government giving us a stipend for that.

I know my state has a piss-poor tax break benefit for filming movies and TV shows, so they rarely film here.

I can almost always figure out if a movie was filmed in Canada or not because of one or two secondary characters being Canadian. See No Evil 2 I knew it right away. While watching Carrie remake last year in theatres I immediately guessed it was filmed in Canada because of a male Canadian actor who was on screen but had no lines.
