Default How many of us here game on the PS3 with HD CRTs?

Only thing that really sucks is the poor geometry & lack of 1080p, 1080p/24, & 120 hert motion thingy that is bring pushed. I still need to play on my dads 61inch Samsung DLP, but I prefer oily blacks & high contrasts for gaming.. & that means using my Sony 42inch as a monitor, & the fact that games scale to 1080i

I have a 65 inch Sony, 1080i in full glory! Bought it back in 2002.

It cuts a part of the sides of the screen though... I forgot what the technical term for that is, overscan?

The blacks are incredible and unmatched IMO

Actually, I am willing to replace it, but once you go 65 inches, you can't go lower. Unfortunately they don't make LCDs that big, and I can't stomach the limited viewing angles on DLPs. Then I don't like the risk of burn in on plasmas cause I usually have CNBC on all morning.

Wrong. They do make 65inch plus LCD's so stop making excuses for yourself not to go get one.

Check my sig. I got a 30" LG CRT. At the time I purchased it, I didn't feel like spending an extra $600 for an LCD of the same size. I would love to upgrade, but there are other things I am looking to spend money on for the time being.

Quote "lack of 1080p" <-Not with my CRT.

Hey,

I use a Sony G70 CRT Front Projector. And 1080p looks great. It doesn't do the 1080@24 but 1080p is fine.

I keep my screen small it's 72x40.5 or 81 diagonal. I've put 2000 hours on the pj since buying new CRTs from Sony 2 years ago and yesterday when I was cleaning the optics I was happy to note the CRT's still look as good as new.

It's the display of my dreams. I bought it with worn CRTs for $400 and then bought all new CRTs direct from Sony. I may move to something non CRT in 10 years or so but I hope by then something like CRT (quality wise) can be made affordable.

I really couldn't be any happier with this projector.

-Brian

I use a 36" Sony Widescreen CRT, it is the largest widescreen CRT Sony made, comes with DVI input, works like a champ.

Inch for inch, neither Plasma or LCD can touch good old CRT for picture.. problem is they only go to about 36"...

I have an LG 30 inch (model is in the sig) which has HDMI and is HDCP compliant. I have some issues with the pin cushioning, which I cannot fix due to my limited knowledge of the nebulose service menus. I've gotten it pretty much straightened out, and the image (contrast, etc) is unbelievable.

However, in the past 2 months I've noticed some vertical hold issues (jittering up and down) when viewing the PS3 browser and anytime there is a horizontal line on the screen (think: the old menu that came up in game when hitting the PS button). I don't notice any jitter in games or movies though, or when viewing TV. Maybe it's just not noticeable then because there aren't perfectly straight horizontal lines across the screen!

That said, I've been looking to upgrade to a 46" LCD for a while just haven't been able to justify it (yet).

I used to play on a 26" Toshiba 1080i CRT HDTV, but I sold it shortly after getting my 42" Panasonic Plasma. I admit, I really liked my old TV, it had an HDMI port and had fantastic picture clarity and colour accuracy, but I really wanted to go bigger. One thing I didn't like about CRTs is their bulk and weight. My friend has a 32" TV that weighs 150 lbs, that we had to move several times. Dez, I don't even want to know how much your TV weighs...

Got the same thing. Looks great, slight bending in one corner. Only problem is it takes a ton of space and weighs like 2 tons...

The biggest WS CRT is RCA's 38inch beast.. Remember Sony's 40inch CRT? 300 plus lbs.. I might sell my 42inch LCD & buy a used CRT.. 30inch Sony 955 or something. As good as digital displays are, they just look too artificial, digitized, & not film like compared to a CRT, especially a CRT front projector.. I have first hand experience with my 42inch LCD & my dads 61 Samsung DLP, & many at my work.. Best Buy.. I just hate the size & the bulk..
