Looks like Amazon dropped the price down to $159.99. I wonder if it will be even lower on Black Friday?

5 seasons is a bit steep at that price. It was originally on Amazon preorder for $138 so I think it will drop below $100 by the end of the year.

My main issue is with the 2 channel audio. The shows budget was limited and was shot in super 16 and what I thought was Dolby Digital 5.1? It is a shame that we won't get a 5.1 lossless offering. I don't think there is a DVD release with 5.1 audio either? The show could surely benefit from multi-channel audio

I have seasons 4 and 5 individually, but this series set is tempting if there's no other way to get the first 3 seasons in BD.

Also, to anyone else that owns the current season 5 BD: I have an audio sync issue on the last disc, disc 3. It's pretty bad on Diamond of the Day Part 1. Anyone else have this issue?

It's $99 right now.

Tempted. $20/per BBC season isn't bad. It's averages a little less than $2 per episode.

Agreed. Bought all the seasons, 3 on DVD only, and then 4 and 5 for this to happen. Annoyed. Maybe if it goes down cheap enough. (Even lower than 99, like a black Friday sale)

I wish they would release seasons 1, 2 and 3 separately for those who have 4 and 5 on Blu-ray already :s

I made the jump and purchased at $99 yesterday (12/29/14). It might eventually be lower than this but you will have to wait a long time to purchase it at a lower price. Blu-ray.com indicated that it would only be for one day so I had to make the purchase when available. It is now Out of Stock at both Amazon and Best Buy.

Does anyone know if this is region free ?

BBC / Warner titles (such as Doctor Who and Sherlock) are usually region free aren't they ?

I have a question. I've only seen up to season 3, so someone that's seen all 5 seasons can you let me know if Merlin becomes the great wizard he's destined for by the end, or will I be disappointed? I want to know before I spend money on the set.

If I remember there are only glimpses of it. If you're expecting the Merlin to eventually appear - then you'll be disappointed. The ending

The show is a "complete" re-telling of the classic story. Complete in that it has a beginning and an end with the ending loosely based on the story. Merlin does save the day near the end with some serious magic use out in the open. So the legend of the great wizard will certainly be told. I was satisfied with the show's ending.

VERY 'out there' IIRC!

That being said, it was most definitely an ending rather than the show being cancelled and ending abruptly.

I enjoyed the finale myself. The final scene, you'll either like or you won't.

Indeed. I liked it, but a lot of people didn't. For the character of Merlin, it is a prequel story all the way to the end, but we at least get a taste of that future greatness in the final episode.

The entire series is very enjoyable, though. The Merlin/Arthur stuff was always well done. I liked their relationship in the show. It's a better bromance than Frodo/Sam.

Did this go out of print or something? What is the deal on the massive increase in price of this as of late? I had been holding off buying this since Jan in hopes it would fall back down closer to $100 but at this point there's no way I can justify nearly $200 for this no matter how much I love the show.

Yes. Series 1-3 are upscaled similar to what the BBC did with Doctor Who - Series 1-4 when they were released on Blu.

Also, if anyone outside the US is wondering I can confirm that it is region free like all other US BBC releases.

Thanks - I won't bother getting this then. I'll just get 1-3 on DVD and 4-5 on Blu.
