Default Creature from Black Lake

So, we're sitting in our office working today and we're thinking, "It's Halloween, shouldn't we maybe announce something today?" We have a few "irons in the fire" as it were and, since this one is officially signed, sealed and delivered with the McCullough family, we're going to announce that work will begin in 2015 on the first, real, authorized version of this "bigfoot" classic! No other details available at this time, as the ink is barely dry, but we're scouring storage facilities and the McCullough family's inventory to bring this one out as soon as humanly possible! Should be a lot of fun! All you collectors out there, take note! If you have any memorabilia or vintage trailers or TV spots for this one, let us know

Cool, the only version I've seen of this was a VHS rip where many of the night scenes were totally indistinguishable due to it just looking like solid black. I'd be interested in rewatching it just to be able to tell what the heck was going on.

This is the news I've been waiting for as I love the film. Always hoped it would get a proper release can't wait til next year. I own a fullscreen version on dvd with not very good picture or sound so this will be quite the upgrade. Thanks synapse.

I e-mailed synapse the other day & was told the blu-ray won't be released anytime soon. They said the internegative element the licensor had turned out to be a 16mm reduction that was cropped. They said they are still looking for something to use. Disappointing news but at the same time I want it done proper.

Thanks for the heads up (and confirmation). I'd already moved this one to the back of the shopping list anyway . I won't be surprised if it takes a couple of years but, yes, it's better they take their time.

Count me in on this title even if it's a blind buy.. Wish you guys could give the Blu-ray treatment to The Legend Of Boggy Creek sometime next year!

I actually tweeted that to them as I would like to see Boggy Creek get a blu-ray release as well. Love both of these films a I grew up with them as a kid.

I e-mailed synapse a few days ago to see if there was any update on the blu-ray release. They said all film materials they have viewed have been faded to magenta. They still are holding out for some pre-print materials & will continue looking. So not much has changed but it's still encouraging that they are continuing to look. I'm anxious for a release but I want it done properly.

Streamed this flick via Amazon and it's the best I've ever seen it! Any chance they can license whatever version Amazon is using?

I e-mailed Synapse Films the other day & they replied back with possible good news for it's future blu-ray release. Here's what they said "We found something and we are currently evaluating the element for color & restoration. Fingers crossed" So it may be happening just have to wait & see if they are satisfied with the film elements. Keep the prayers coming. lol

I also asked Synapse films if there would be an announcement at some point. Here's their reply. "Once we get it altogether, and the element is usable, then we have to maybe get some extras in order. It may be awhile before an official announcement is made" I'm just glad they are taking the care to try to get it right. So it's in the early stages but at least there's some movement.
