Watch the Europeans lap this game up.

I've never enjoyed the Fifa series myself...after playing soccer for a good part of my life..the winning eleven stuff kicks their arse all over the field IMHO. Maybe this one will change that. I'll rent first to see.

The nuances of winning eleven leaving me going "holy crap" .. that's exactly how it really happened, *exactly* what I would have done in that situation...it's like deja vu sometimes. It's sooooo subtle that I really couldn't describe the specifics in detail..but it's simply amazing at times.. and just that good at getting it right.

Wink

EA definitely needs to step if they want to even match winning eleven's greatness.

Soccer is so boring! Most people here in the US,don't care for it. Most popular is football and baseball.

thanks for the scans, im looking forward to it and i hope EA step it up after the dissapointment of the Fifa 07 on the 360 i hope they make this game better. They need to also match pro evo so tis going to be tricky. But to me the graphics look exactly the same as the 360 After throwing my 360 out for my beautiful PS3 i wont a better game worthy of the graphics but i have a feeling it will be a port.

I'm an American and I feel your pain. That isn't right. America should call football something else. Well, at least they are speeled differently (futball...football).

Preview and four 720p shots from IGN. This will run at 60fps apparently, more than twice what I've experienced in two Fifa 360 demos so far (unstable 30). We shall see what they've achieved on PS3.

How can you say soccer is boring? You have 90 minutes packed w/ non-stop action. Football and baseball on the other hand have a commercial break every two minutes. Football is ok to watch, but baseball... I would first gouge out my eyes...

A bunch more screens, nice grass effect - if EA aren't bullshotting like they often do.

I can't believe people still buy this c**p! I realized a long time ago that EA is just out there to sell you the same game for years with just an update year after year. I stopped buying FIFA 4 years ago and never looked back! I've been buying Winning Eleven and importing PES since then and never have regreted doing so!

Every yearly sport outing including PES looks like a shameless cash-in to me. The only exciting upgrades seem to happen with new hardware platforms.

Just as well I'm not into these games.

Default FIFA, EA and PlayStation Kick Off FIFA Interactive World Cup 2008

EA and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) are this year’s presenting partners for the only FIFA-sanctioned global interactive football challenge

Leipzig, Germany, 22 August 2007 - FIFA, the world’s governing body of football, Electronic Arts Inc (NASDAQ: ERTS) and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced the new season of the FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC), the world’s only officially FIFA sanctioned global football gaming competition, Sony joins EA as a new presenting partner for the tournament, in which participants from around the world compete using EA SPORTS FIFA 08 on the PlayStation®3 (PS3™). The FIWC launches with a new format, designed as a season-long experience mirroring the real world of football. The announcement was made today at the Leipzig Games Convention.

The FIWC 2008 kicks off in early October 2007 and will culminate in the Grand Final in Berlin’s Sony Centre in May 2008. This year, players can compete at one of more than 20 physical FIWC 08 Qualifier Events across the globe or online via the PLAYSTATION®Network in over 25 countries. In May 2008, finalists will compete to be crowned FIFA Interactive World Player 2008 at the FIFA World Player Gala and win a cash prize of USD 20,000. Registration opens today at www.FIFA.com/FIWC.

“To be associated with the world’s leading games publisher, EA, and one of the most respected organizations in the world, FIFA, is very exciting for us,” said Simon Rutter, VP Sales & Marketing for SCEE. “With the added realism that PS3 brings to FIFA 08, we have every belief that now is the time to truly make an impact with the FIFA Interactive World Cup, We’re looking forward to PS3 fans helping to make the tournament every bit as iconic for gamers as the real FIFA World Cup is for football fans.”

Matt Bilbey, Senior Director, Sports Marketing, EA said “The FIFA Interactive World Cup has become a firm fixture in the diaries of many football fans and gamers around the world and we’ll be there to bring them a season full of great competition with FIFA 08 on the PlayStation 3. With FIFA 08, EA Sports is delivering the sensations of being on the real FIFA World Cup football pitch, so football gamers in every geography better start practicing!“

“The FIFA Interactive World Cup is an excellent platform to introduce gamers to the football community. This year the show continues with the 4th edition of the FIFA Interactive World Cup which enables people to enjoy football on a unique playing field. With the extended event period matching the European league system, we have made yet another big step towards establishing the FIFA Interactive World Cup as the world's leading football gaming competition just like the FIFA World Cup is for real football”, says FIFA Executive-Member Chuck Blazer

EA SPORTS™ FIFA 08 for the PLAYSTATION3 will create a football experience that matches the complexity, finesse and beauty of the real-world game. FIFA 08 features a new, organic building-block system that enables players to combine tricks and skill moves together to recreate signature moves from the real-world superstars or define their own style of play.

In addition, FIFA 08 features a true next-generation ball-striking engine that re-creates the drama and unpredictable nature of shooting, the award-winning Interactive Leagues online gameplay and the inclusion of 620 licensed teams, 30 leagues, and more than 15,000 players.

For the complete event schedule and to keep the finger on the pulse of the FIFA Interactive World Cup please go to: http://www.FIFA.com/FIWC.
