Toho will release Gareth Edwards' Godzilla (2014) in Japan on February 25th, 2015.
There will be 2D editions, 3D editions, and Limited Editions with a Bonus BD and DVD copy of the film.
According to the specs on Amazon, both the 3D and 2D discs will have English: Dolby TrueHD 7.1 audio, along with Japanese: Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio. There will apparently be only Japanese subtitles.
There are two bonus discs, both of which appear to be Blu-ray.The deluxe boxes also seem to include a fourth BD in celebration of Godzilla's 60th Anniversary. According to Toho's product listing for these releases, both bonus BDs are BD-25.

Oh man. That 5 disc set is really nice. If there are some substantial bonus features that are English friendly I will definitely pick it up. Hopefully there will be an offering of the 5 disc set without the figure since I'm not really interested in it.

There is already a two-star "review" on the non-Amazon exclusive version seemingly complaining that Toho has only included the 60th Anniversary Bonus BD in the expensive box set with the figure.
And the non-exclusive has disappeared from ordering at Amazon. Hopefully, it re-appears, because that box set is likely to fall in price (since it is sold everywhere), while the Amazon exclusives are both likely to stay at the ¥16,200 and ¥7,344 prices, because they are exclusives. And the only difference at this point is that a bonus SteelBook case is included with the Amazon versions, and based on precedent, it will be an empty SteelBook case, at that.

That's too bad that there aren't any new bonus features. Between that and the price, this looks like an easy pass for me. It's too bad because that packaging is really nice.
FYI--Toho has said that the deluxe box set is limited to 8,000 pieces, but they have not specified whether that includes the Amazon exclusive sets. However, I must assume it does.
On Amazon.co.jp, the non-exclusive box set has been back and forth all day between available to pre-order and not available. I'm thinking that Amazon possibly sold out of their allotment for that edition. Possibly, it was loaded in error, because my pre-order says "Not yet shipped", while the other editions all say "pre-ordered". This set is still available at HMV.co.jp, but, it is already the #1 selling item in the entire CD/DVD section.
As of right now, the Amazon exclusive box set is still available for pre-order on Amazon, but it is already the #1 selling item in the entire Blu-ray/DVD area.
So, I might suggest, if you think you could be at all interested in the box set, that you place an order ASAP.

It looks like Toho recently started using MGVC encodes, and it looks like they now generally tend towards DTS-HD MA audio for films, but here they are releasing Godzilla (which, of course, WB released with DTS-HD MA audio) in Dolby TrueHD.

I hope for a really high bitrate encode for the picture. And will be interesting to see if they give this Atmos or 96khz while US don't.
This release is the version to get as Godzilla is Japanese after all even though it's an American film. Still, I anticipated a steelbook from Amazon Japan and the waiting paid off. Preordered right away for the limited edition Amazon exclusive. Hopefully they'll give it the best audio for this release.
I think I might get the 2D version. It's a shame that this variation of the cover art was only used for the Rental Blu-ray cover art here in the States.
For reference, the otherwise untested DVD copy is locked to DVD Region 2 in the NTSC standard.
The film is presented in the original English, or dubbed in Japanese. The 2D editions also feature Japanese audio description, spoken by a male voice. All editions of the film are available with optional subtitles in Japanese, Japanese SDH, and Japanese for dubbing.
The 3D feature disc does not play on 2D systems, and does not feature any extras, there is only a Toho logo, and a main menu with audio, subtitle and scene selection.
The 2D feature disc contains the theatrical teaser and trailer.
The bonus features from the WB editions are presented on a separate BD-25 disc, which is included with all retail versions available at this time. This disc also includes the Japanese versions of the teaser and trailer, as well as over nine minutes worth of Japanese TV spots.
The final disc in the box set is the Godzilla 60th Anniversary BD, which was originally specified by Toho to be a BD-25. However, once the specifications were updated, it became a BD-50 with over four-and-a-half hours of content. This content mostly consists of interviews and a lengthy documentary in Japanese, but there is also what appears to be a Japanese Premiere featurette for Godzilla (2014), featuring Ken Watanabe and Gareth Edwards. While Watanabe speaks in Japanese, Edwards speaks in English, and for whatever reason, his remarks are not subtitled in Japanese.
There is also a poster art gallery, which appears to contain Japanese posters for all of the films (Japanese and American) in the series. This gallery also offers detail images for all posters, and in all, there are over 150 images. A reproduction of what appears to be the Japanese program for Godzilla (2014) has also been included.
The real treat of this disc, though, has to be the film for the "Monster Planet of Godzilla" ride that began in 1994 at the Sanrio Puroland theme park in Tokyo. Originally a 3D attraction, Toho has not only re-scanned the film to 1080p, but has provided an option to watch the film in 3D (it also plays in 2D). The Japanese: Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack is also incredibly immersive, and even though the narration is Japanese, the ride film is simple enough to be enjoyed by all.
The discs are all housed in a three-tiered digipack, with separate disc hubs, and all are both easily secured and removed.
Of course, the box set also comes with the Godzilla figurine (I have not removed it from its box), and the whole set is packaged in a cardboard box that is stamped with red colored Godzilla logos--a very nice touch.
Toho must be commended for their superlative efforts with this special edition. Even without understanding most of the material, it is clear that they have put significant effort into this release. The film looks and sounds spectacular, and the additional extras even hold some value for non-Japanese speakers.
Having said that, it would be great to get the 60th Anniversary documentary, which runs well over two hours, with English subtitles.
These are the WB featurettes Godzilla: Force of Nature, A Whole New Level of Destruction, Into the Void: The HALO Jump and Ancient Enemy: The MUTOs. The MONARCH films are playable separately.
