Indeed, I've had that disc since forever. It's pretty sad we can't get our own movies released here.

I agree. PANIC ROOM is probably my most wanted recent catalog title. It's beyond insane that it's the only Fincher film not on BD. It will really benefit from HD, since it's set entirely at night in almost pitch-black rooms, which DVD was never good with.

That said, this is one of the most visually stunning 90s studio comedies, so the HD upgrade is definitely worthwhile for fans. It's also one of the few American romcoms with a truly great script. Glad to see it in the US, but it looks identical to the disc the rest of the world has had for years, which I picked up from the UK about 5 years ago.

And still no sign of Sony releasing THE AGE OF INNOCENCE here, even though it has been trickling out in European countries over the last year.

Also, this disc had a US release date in 2008, but then never materialized. However people have talked about getting stray copies and they also sometimes turn up on Amazon used. I wonder if these are actually just discs that have been sitting in a warehouse for years...

FYI, the Japanese My Best Friend's Wedding blu-ray released earlier this year is a new encode (AVC and DTS-HD MA) but uses the same master as the original blu-ray. The menus are also all in Japanese.

I'll pick this up but what's the story with Sony not releasing catalog titles anymore?? Blu-ray is their format and they don't even support it! Where's Bad Boys ll? It was scheduled for release back in '09. Someone who knows please chime in.

I thought they just gave up on catalog titles because the sales were too low. Didn't seem that complicated. That's why they started licensing their titles to Twilight Time, Mill Creek, etc. The catalog titles sold a bit better overseas, thus other territories get titles we never did like AGE OF INNOCENCE. Or, for example, other territories got Sony BDs of SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE and PHILADELPHIA, while they were licensed out to Twilight Time in the US.
