I've been on captainhowdy.com and there's people that talk about other scenes on that site as well. Of course, they're not believed either because of no visual proof. Again, I know what I saw (twice) and it's not me getting my memories mixed up with something else.
That message board over at captainhowdy.com doesn't have a lot of traffic does it? There's also no way to sign up. Anyway I just wish that the studio gets their act together and release the cinemax 2006 version which sounds like it's the full 2 hour and 20 minute version to me.

It was longer. You can PM me and I'll describe every extra scene that was put in.

I'm here to make a statement. I'm actually coming around to thinking that the theatrical version is the better version. Part of the reason is because the "version you've never seen" isn't actually the original version. There's 8 more minutes from the original cut of the film. Like I said before I'd kill to see the original 2 hour and 20 minute version of this fine film but that probably won't happen.

You're just figuring that out now? There was a reason why they didn't include it in the original version. It wasn't needed then, and it's not needed now. I'm very happy with the theatrical version. It scared the crap out of me in 1973, and it scares me now.

I'm sure I'll go back and forth. I'm basically in an all or nothing mindset. The "version you've never seen" is not the entire original cut of the film anyway.

My wife and I are stuck in a bad spot when it comes to the theatrical vs. "Version You've Never Seen" cuts of the film...we have exclusively watched the extended cut every Halloween for the past 7 years...if I were to switch to the theatrical cut one year, the 1st thing out of her mouth will be "Where's the spider walk scene?" That extended cut is now the version of the film we are most familiar with and the loss of scenes would detract from our viewing experience...

A lot of people view the spiderwalk as silly but the very first time you see a human behaving like another animal especially if you know that they're possessed it IS very scary/frightening!! And it also comes out of nowhere in the film like a sucker punch right to the ol' nutsack!

The Spiderwalk Scene is one of the reasons I prefer the extended cut over the theatrical. It's a brief yet very memorable/startling moment. The doctor's office scene I find important, especially because it fills in a gap later in the movie, and when Regan sees Pazuzu on the examination table... creepy as hell.

I enjoy both cuts of the film to be honest. There's certain seen that should have been kept in the orginal cut. THE Examination AND THE talk between rhe The priests.

I think the examination scene actually is much needed in the film, because it shows that Reagan's issues had been building for a while. Seemed a bit more sudden in the theatrical cut. I didn't actually like the Pazuzu reveal though, as that made it a bit too unsubtle something supernatural was going on since Father Karris also saw him in his dream.

It would be cool if the technology was more widely used to allow the viewer to pick the additional scenes they'd like added when watching the film...the menu could show the 5 or 6 extra/altered scenes, and the viewer can choose to watch that portion as either the original or extended cut...thus, you can customize your viewing experience before watching the movie...

Since it seems that some of the extra scenes are good and would help the original cut...

It looks great now don't get me wrong but, the AVC codec is a tad sharper than VC-1.
Which previous release had the AVC codec? I have the digibook which is VC-1

Yeah the Pazuzu demon creeping in while Regan was lying on the examination table is really, really scary/creepy!! That face is the scariest thing in cinematic history!! So subtle, yet so powerful.

None. I said if they used the AVC codec and pumped up the bitrates then they would have looked even better than they do.

It also kind of ruins the slow burn that's going on in the film up to that point.

The spiderwalk comes out of nowhere and the first time I seen it I was like HOLY CRAP, THERE IT IS!! It blindsides you a tad.

I like the spiderwalk scene but I wish they would have used the other one with Regan chasing Sharon. I like that version better.

Regan should've had some different movements after she comes down the stairs and flips over in the alternate cut of the spiderwalk scene. The way she crawls around on the floor was cute lookin and kind of took away from the effect. Other than that I really don't mind the alternate take.

I much prefer the theatrical cut. The spider walk scene is laughable and the additional scene with the two priests discussing the demon's motive and the extended ending were both completely unnecessary.
