You're overrating the resolution. I've been to best buy and seen perfect 1080p hdtvs playing blu-ray movies. They are sharper, but it is not worth paying that much more for such a slight improvement. That slight improvement may be good for video quality freaks, but it's just not cost effective. The disc size is considerable bigger (bd-r 25gb) but you could still store more than 25gb of data for about $1.25 (using standard dvds). However, it would cost AT LEAST $10 to use a bd-r disc to store the data (in most cases, about $20). Talk about a difference between cost-effectiveness. I don't care about how much you paid for your overpriced dvd drive. If you want to waste money on overpriced hardware, then go ahead. But don't tell the rest of us that blu-ray hardware is cost effective and not overpriced.
