I don't know if there is a thread for this, but I have not seen one. I think this could be a good little thread. The movie trailer. That bastion of film advertising that runs before every movie in the theater that you watch and plays continually online via any website you can name. Trailers play a huge role in the moviegoing experience. They can titillate and excite us, or they can make us want to bury our heads in shame, or just leave us dumbfounded with nothing to say (good or bad). Or they can make us want to run screaming out of the theater. I have not done that yet even for the worst trailers. To clarify, the trailer doesn't have to have been released this year, it just has to pertain to a film that was or is still to come this year. You can rank your favorites or just list them as best you can. This is a subjective thing. Any trailer for any movie in 2014 that you deem worth it is fair game. I'll start by listing 5 of my favorites from this year.
1. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer 3- Good gracious alive. I may be a bit biased with this, but this was still an amazing trailer. It had everything it needed to get my butt in the seat and I'm sure I wasn't the only one. 2. Big Hero 6 Trailer 3- This was the one. I had enjoyed the trailers up to this point, but this was it. The big one. The one that sealed the deal for me and this film and told me I would love it. I did. 3. Interstellar Trailer 2- This is the one that finally got me hooked to the point that I knew I would have to see the movie. It has the emotion, the wonder, the thrill of discovery, really all that it should have to excite interest. 4. Godzilla Trailer 2 - Without a doubt one of the finest film trailers we have seen in quite some time. So good in fact that it set the bar high enough that many people left the actual movie underwhelmed. Awesome music in it too. 5. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Full Trailer- This trailer rocked the house. Intense, emotional, chilling, chill-bump inducing. All of the above. And it looks like all blockbusters. Then again, it seems blockbusters do get some of the best trailers. Edit. It was Interstellar Trailer 2 that had the Michael Cane reading "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" over the last stretch wasn't it? Because that one really was the clincher for me. All of the Interstellar trailers were great, but that one really stands out to me. "Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light." Last edited by spiderfan1985; 11-17-2014 at 05:20 PM. |
