4 ACC teams are ranked, I'm surprised it is 4 with all the SEC love ESPN does.

The thing is while the SEC West is tough it doesn't make Mississippi State's schedule that brutal. Based purely on resume I don't know how you can put Mississippi State over TCU. TCU currently has 3 top 25 wins versus only 1 for Mississippi State, and TCU's best win is against a higher-ranked team than Mississippi State's. Their strength of schedule are very similar, with Mississippi State at #32 and TCU at #38. TCU's loss is against the #7 team by 3, while Mississippi State's was to the #1 team by 5, but it would have been by 12 if not for a touchdown with 15 seconds left. If Mississippi State wins out then they would have a legit argument at being ranked above TCU, but at the moment there's no way they have a better resume than TCU.

We should all hope this is how it stays. If a one loss Big 12 and a one loss Big 10 team are left out then all hell will break loose. Those commissioners will not stand for it and 8 teams will be coming soon! Next year soon!
Looking at these rankings I think for a conference like the Big-12, ACC or Big-Ten the only option for a 1-loss team making the playoff is going to be playing more challenging non-conference games going forward. It's pretty obvious this playoff committee is always going to place 1-loss SEC teams ahead of 1-loss teams in those conferences.

Just imagine is Georgia had squeaked by South Carolina earlier this year. They'd almost certainly be in position to make the playoff despite getting blown out by a terrible Gators team if they were to win out and knock off Alabama for the SEC title.

I'm with you on an 8 team playoff. I've always considered that the ideal playoff system. A 4 team playoff is always going to leave out a lot of quality 1-loss major conference teams whereas an 8-team playoff would likely include every quality 1-loss team plus one or two really good 2-loss teams. I think once the school Presidents and AD's start seeing how much money this 4-team playoff generates they'll way to expand to 8 teams fairly soon anyway.

I don't care who they play. My point is leave two major conferences out of the money while the SEC gets two in and those two will go nuts. Hope it happens. Sacrifice this year for the better moving forward.

ACC commissioner seems pretty set on the need for an 8 team playoff system.

Ya, and I'm sure the Big 12 and Big-Ten will be ticked off too. Assuming Bama, FSU, Oregon and Miss St. win out it's almost certain Baylor, TCU and OSU get left out this year. Then once they see how much money this 4 team playoff generates I think everyone will want to expand to 8 teams.

I really wish there was more transparency in how this "playoff committee" is setting it's rankings. If each member is being polled individually they really should release the rankings for each member.

ACC Championship game!

What a choke by Duke! 3 games left. All at home. Against bad to mediocre teams. Just need to win 2. Lose the first two.

I wonder if the Duke loss will help Louisville make it to a bigger name Bowl? The reason why I'm asking is cause some people are now predicting that Clemson will likely go to the Orange Bowl since Duke lost.

Looking at the current bowl projections the consensus seems to be Louisville to the Pinstripe Bowl. And ya, seems like most think Clemson is going to be in the Orange Bowl.

Unfortunately it looks like Marshall might make a BCS game if they win out. I'm seeing some projecting Georgia vs. Marshall in the Peach Bowl. Georgia would get that lucky.

The problem is it's guaranteed that one of the "Group of Five" teams will make one of the main six bowls. Marshall's schedule is a complete joke but there's really no other options. Colorado State is really the only other choice, but to be chosen as the "Group of Five" team you have to win your conference, and they lost the head-to-head matchup with Boise State so as long as Boise wins the next two (and their final game against Utah State is no gimme) then Colorado State won't be eligible. One of the things the BCS got right was the requirement that a non-AQ conference team had to be ranked in the top 12 (or top 16 and ahead of an AQ conference champion).

As a Louisville fan, playing Georgia in a Bowl game really excites me, I know that won't happen though.

If Watson can't play next wheel CU will lose to USC. I think that will keep them out of the Orange Bowl.

Who knows? Report yesterday morning was he tweaked the knee again At practice on Thursday night. Report is that he did walk off the field. If he does play I'm sure there will be no running for him. If I know that I think Spurrier will figure that out.

Stoudt may suck, and he does, but it's really nice seeing a run game developing finally! Welcome back Dye! It's been a long two years for him but I think it's going to be worth the wait.
