Do many people buy Blu-ray's of DVD's they own?

My DVD collection was never that large as funds wouldn't allow it and I wasn't that big into collecting at the time. So, I haven't had to replace many DVD titles and now I buy Blu-rays almost exclusively. Some were easy upgrades, like bumping the individual DVD releases of LOTR up to the Blu-ray LOTR EE box set. Another was the Dark Knight Trilogy box set. There are very few titles on DVD I just have to have (The Hollow Crown being one of them) because they aren't available in Blu and likely never will be. The UK release is Region B only, what were they thinking?!
