I think something went wrong with the rights on that one since the DVD went oop really fast and immediately skyrocketed in value and it never showed up on the warner archive, unlike Moon Zero Two (the double feature on the same release). I wonder if it had something to do with it being the R-rated version that wasn't shown in theaters despite having a G rating on the back, like it was a Swamp Thing DVD situation or something.

Yes, The Giant Giant

I prefer it's British title, Behemoth The Sea Monster. That's a good one too. I have the DVD version.

Yes, with incredibly well executed stop motion effects. It's also pretty gruesome for it's time. The scorpions are pretty brutal in their attacks on humans.

you are so right.... I remember showing this to my boys when they were around 7 or 8 and they were scared by it and the death scenes were pretty graphic!

7 years later they watch The Walking Dead

Behemoth The Sea Monster (aka Giant Behemoth), is kinda a British remake of Beast From 20,000 Fathoms, only the dino is radiactive. It scorches people and causes lots of mayhem. It's pretty good, very seriously acted.

The stop motion effects are great. They also had an animatronic puppet head, that looks pretty good, but someone broke it. So when you see it in the movie, it's very immobile, because the mechanics were shot. It's still nicely designed, but again, very stiff.

Here's a shot from the movie.....

Here's the stop motion one.....

I highly doubt the individual releases are going OOP.
They probably didn't sell amazingly and they're trying to lure more buyers with a two-for-one deal.

Scream Factory finally admitted that they are working with IFC Midnight on the release.

Expect an official announcement soon.

Not sure if you are pulling our legs, but its been one of the hot topics of horror film enthusiasts for months. I believe it's taken home quite a few foreign awards. I think it may even be available in pay streaming in some areas. That said, I've not seen it and know very little about it myself aside from the above vagueries.

Is this the same one with the really bad superimpositioning, ie the scorpion in some shots is almost nothing but a silhouette (and one that is sometimes transparent at that)?

Regardless, for those who want to check it out:

Ding, ding, ding!!! And also a kinda cute scorpion face that drools. But the stop motion effects, are still incredibly well done.

Pretty fun movie.

It's not terrible but it's nothing like the original poster.

My guess is that IFC had final say on that front as well as distribution and things like that, while Scream Factory will be aiding in the production of the special features.

Because there's no way in hell that Scream Factory would have let that cover out the front door.
