Wasn't only the climax of Friday the 13th 3 3D in 3D? I don't remember the whole movie being in 3D.

No the whole movie was in 3D. I remember seeing it in the theater.
I would love to see all of them released, saw most of them back in the day at the cinema in 3D.

I believe you are thinking of FREDDY'S DEAD in which the finale was in 3D. It was also released with the 3D intact on laserdisc

Parasite, I'd also like to see that in 3D. When I was a kid, I'm pretty certain there was a trailer TV spot commercial that showed the scene where the parasite crawls onto the ceiling and drops down towards the camera, and that always scared me as a kid.

I don't see any 3D movies from the 1980's on my PS3 in 3D or 2D.

Shouldn't this be a sticky?

Bob Furmanek: is there any possibility of 3-D Film Archive obtaining home video distribution rights in the USA for SILENT MADNESS or the two Hong Kong films, DYNASTY and REVENGE OF THE SHOGUN WOMEN?

Another possibility is the low-budget indy shot in NYC, Richard W. Haines' RUN FOR COVER 3-D (1995). Pathfinder Home Video released it flat. Now oop. I've seen a field-sequential and it makes a huge difference, although it would need minor adjustments here and there.

Glad to see Bob expanded the Silver Age from 1986 to 1997.

One film on the list, Richard W. Haines' RUN FOR COVER 3-D (1995) is a low-budget shoestring indy. It was shot with Condon's Stereovision lenses. Pathfinder Home Video released a flat DVD in 2003, and recently it became an amazon exclusive:

http://www.amazon.com/Run-Cover-Koby...5201503&sr=1-2

The director sent me a field-sequential DVD-R years ago. There's a lot of flickering but the stereo is surprising. It would be nice if the film got a 3-D release. The alignment issues should be simple to fix.

We now have three 3-D films from the 1980s: Amityville 3, Comin' At Ya! and Jaws 3 3-D. They're coming out with interminable slowness.

Sad there is no current news on a possible blu ray 3D release in 2015 for Star Chaser 3D. Great animation, design and 3D in the Star Wars theme. The worldwide rights are available for licensing last time I heard, but not sure what is happening.
The producers now have a DCP ready to go. So maybe a Bluray 3D isn't far off.

Thanks. Yes, Star Chaser would be the best on blu ray 3D. I hope they include the extras so we can see how they were able to get 3D volume and layers out of cel frames and painted backgrounds. Movie looks awesome in strong 3D but needs to be on blu ray 3D in 2017.

It's risky to spend a lot of money on restoring a 3D classic film or vintage film, as it costs money to put it all together and doesn't always pan out with gold, but it is important historically for 3D, even if it's a limited edition run.

Man! Sony had some free downloadable stuff on the PS3 when 3D first kicked off. Ghosting was bad on the first 3D set I purchased (Samsung PDP) so I downloaded a few but only kept 1 (Finding Champlain). I really wish I would have kept all of them now. Finding Champlain has good 3D with depth and some pop-outs. It's a well done short documentary about Champlain from the eyes of a modern painter who has been asked to do a portrait of the explorer for a museum opening. The painter meets the spirit of Champlain and he shows and tells her of his adventures with the English and North American Indians. Just the kind of documentaries that I like. I could use more of those. They are out there and I hope they become available for folks like us.

Of the listing of unreleased 3D, I'd like to see on blu ray 3D:
Parasite 3D
Friday the 13th Part 3 3D
Jackie Chan Magnificent Bodyguard 3D
Treasure of the Four Crowns 3D
Rottweiler 3D
Space Hunter 3D
Hyperspace 3D
Star Chaser 3D
Freddy's Dead Final Nightmare 3D

And of course APE 3D which is on the way by March 2017.

Thumbs up

It's a brilliant resource which has been steadily getting better and better. Bob Furmanek and Greg Kintz of the 3-D Film Archive post here quite regularly when they have updates to some of the ongoing restoration projects they're involved with. They've been instrumental in making so many of these films available to modern audiences and getting them to 3D blu-ray.

It's a fascinating site to browse through casually, and the quality of the research is impeccable. Highly recommended.

Of the 2 Earl Owensby films you list (Rottweiler & Hyperspace), I think that the one filmed just before Hyperspace, the anthology 3D "Tales of the Third Dimension" has the best 3D. I hope that it will be restored.

Tales of the 3rd Dimension, that sounds promising, thanks. I see it's a horror type movie and has a zombie narrator. Looks entertaining.

More time was spent trying to achieve good depth and some out-of-screen on Tales of the Third Dimension.

A horror film.
Likely the first anthology 3D movie.
Some real effort at using 3D in the stories.

Difficult lighting conditions, but
I'm really hoping that it will be restored.
