Wasn't only the climax of Friday the 13th 3 3D in 3D? I don't remember the whole movie being in 3D.

No the whole movie was in 3D. I remember seeing it in the theater.
I would love to see all of them released, saw most of them back in the day at the cinema in 3D. |

I don't see any 3D movies from the 1980's on my PS3 in 3D or 2D.

Bob Furmanek: is there any possibility of 3-D Film Archive obtaining home video distribution rights in the USA for SILENT MADNESS or the two Hong Kong films, DYNASTY and REVENGE OF THE SHOGUN WOMEN?
Another possibility is the low-budget indy shot in NYC, Richard W. Haines' RUN FOR COVER 3-D (1995). Pathfinder Home Video released it flat. Now oop. I've seen a field-sequential and it makes a huge difference, although it would need minor adjustments here and there. Last edited by Richard--W; 10-05-2015 at 11:25 AM. |

Glad to see Bob expanded the Silver Age from 1986 to 1997.
One film on the list, Richard W. Haines' RUN FOR COVER 3-D (1995) is a low-budget shoestring indy. It was shot with Condon's Stereovision lenses. Pathfinder Home Video released a flat DVD in 2003, and recently it became an amazon exclusive: http://www.amazon.com/Run-Cover-Koby...5201503&sr=1-2 The director sent me a field-sequential DVD-R years ago. There's a lot of flickering but the stereo is surprising. It would be nice if the film got a 3-D release. The alignment issues should be simple to fix. It's risky to spend a lot of money on restoring a 3D classic film or vintage film, as it costs money to put it all together and doesn't always pan out with gold, but it is important historically for 3D, even if it's a limited edition run. |

Man! Sony had some free downloadable stuff on the PS3 when 3D first kicked off. Ghosting was bad on the first 3D set I purchased (Samsung PDP) so I downloaded a few but only kept 1 (Finding Champlain). I really wish I would have kept all of them now. Finding Champlain has good 3D with depth and some pop-outs. It's a well done short documentary about Champlain from the eyes of a modern painter who has been asked to do a portrait of the explorer for a museum opening. The painter meets the spirit of Champlain and he shows and tells her of his adventures with the English and North American Indians. Just the kind of documentaries that I like. I could use more of those. They are out there and I hope they become available for folks like us.

Not sure this was ever posted. I had never seen it before. If indeed it was posted before, my apologies. Just delete it.

It's a brilliant resource which has been steadily getting better and better. Bob Furmanek and Greg Kintz of the 3-D Film Archive post here quite regularly when they have updates to some of the ongoing restoration projects they're involved with. They've been instrumental in making so many of these films available to modern audiences and getting them to 3D blu-ray.
It's a fascinating site to browse through casually, and the quality of the research is impeccable. Highly recommended. |

Of the 2 Earl Owensby films you list (Rottweiler & Hyperspace), I think that the one filmed just before Hyperspace, the anthology 3D "Tales of the Third Dimension" has the best 3D. I hope that it will be restored. |

Tales of the 3rd Dimension, that sounds promising, thanks. I see it's a horror type movie and has a zombie narrator. Looks entertaining.

A horror film. Likely the first anthology 3D movie. Some real effort at using 3D in the stories. Difficult lighting conditions, but I'm really hoping that it will be restored. |
