My mistake. But, yeah, I do agree with you.

I think critical embargos are usually a telling sign that the studio has something to worry about.

Once in a great while it has to do with something OTHER than lack of confidence, but in this case most of us knew it was because they were afraid it would turn out this way.

Rt now 18% 2 pos 9 neg.

This isn't going to be like the first returns from the town of Dixville Notch, Vermont where McGovern won the majority of votes in 1972 and Nixon won in a landslide----these numbers will hold up.

It's pretty bad when one of only two positive reviews starts out by feeling sorry for a movie.

That reviewer did no favor to the movie because now people are calling it a "pity review".

Geez if you liked it, don't damn it with so much faint praise.

Did anybody in Batman Begins ever use the word superhero? I honestly don't remember but I'm inclined to think nobody did.

But you're right, they weren't all superheroes. One of them was a supervillain.

A pretty believable one too. Josh Trank did in 90 minutes what George Lucas couldn't do in almost seven hours: he turned a reasonably normal, reasonably well-adjusted teen into a supervillian in a believable, interesting way.

It was a pretty nice trick.

Dixville Notch is in New Hampshire, and it didn't vote for McGovern in 1972 (84% Nixon, actually).

It's gotten the outcome of the Presidential Election nationwide wrong in 1960 (100% Nixon), 1964 (89% Goldwater, lol), 1968, 1976, 1992 (Clinton finished in fourth place somehow), and 1996.

good research, but I think everybody got the point I was making. I knew they had voted for the loser a number of times.

That's about the lamest thing you've said in a while... and that's saying something.

I knew my facts were possibly off and I didn't care enough to check which New England state and I knew that they had overwhelmingly voted for the loser on a number of occasions.

The other poster didn't know those facts (percentages) off the top of his head and he researched them. Kudos to him for taking my offhand remark and making an interesting post.

Quite the opposite to you who just felt the need to take a shot a someone simply because they happened to be right about this movie being a flop---not because I'm anti-Fox, Not because I'm an MCU fanboy, not because they changed some things, not because I wanted the rights to revert (which I do only because Marvel would do it better), but because I paid attention every step of the way and all indicators pointed to a disaster.

Am I embarrassed?--not in the least, but man, you should be.

That is true. In this very thread you have pointed out marketing blunders and signs of trouble for the last couple of years. It is looking more and more like you were correct.

That's quite a self-congratulatory extrapolation of my post. The reason I said it was embarrassing is because you weren't even close to being correct. You've admitted it's because you had no interest in fact-checking your claim, which explains it.

The only thing you've done that I'm annoyed by is hate spamming this thread which has been going on for awhile now. The biggest offender has been suspended multiple times so have it, I guess?

Hey I got the name and spelling of Dixville Notch right--I knew it was a new England state and I knew they had been way off on their "first in the nation" voting and counting (12:01 am on election day) by voting for the eventual loser many times. McGovern was a bad guess, I admit since Nixon was the incumbent by then. Was I 100% wrong--not nearly and if that's your best estimate of how wrong I was, then I hope your not an accountant!

Also, I'm sure almost everyone got the point I was making--the numbers will not turn around for this movie.

I think Fox has done a fine (though not particularly faithful) job with X-Men and I love the Daredevil Director's cut, when they announced trank I had high hopes that a young director would be given the money, support and production help he would need to make an epic FF movie which is what I think they deserve.

but early on they let him turn this movie into his pet project, casting who he liked without screen tests, co-writing the script to make it very much un-like the source material, basically giving him a reported $122 million to make Chronicle 2. Those are bad ideas every step of the way.
Then when he's all done shooting they look at the finished product and freak out, ordering 3 rounds of reshoots and changing many, many elements of the movie--more action, changing Doom's name back to his "real" name, changing Tim Blake nelson's character from Harvey Elder (Mole Man) to Gen(?) Allen, playing down the powers as "disabilities" portion of the movie.

They let him run totally free and then saw what they had green-lit--they panicked and try to salvage it. they threw the young cast under the bus from day 1--not even properly (or ever) officially announcing them and giving them no coaching on how to respond to the criticism by actors who had never been in this big a spotlight before.

Denying things that turned out to be 100% true, lying about the reason the 3D was eliminated etc.

And still after all that, had I seen the first trailer and I had seen the Thing looking fairly close to his classic self and seen Doom looking fairly close to his classic self--the inner fan in me would have cut them some slack and maybe considered that they were trying. But no.

Hate spamming? No, but when something you love is treated this way you take the chance of a very strong negative reaction.

Can I say I'm proud of every post I've made in this thread?---no.
But how many of us can say that about all our posts?

I'm not against you expressing your opinion or even having a very strong negative reaction. It's looking like this movie is going to be mediocre at best and the rest of the critical reviews will most likely reflect that. I just have a problem when someone posts the same thing over and over (you are by no means the only person who has done this). I respect your opinion but once again, you've written all of these points before so I won't respond to them any further as I've said everything I can say in response, which is probably for the best.

Surprised Fox would allow this. They've been doing great on X-men...Trank is probably done. Good riddance.

I'm still hoping for better reviews, I'd like to have a little support to go see this in an Atmos theater.

That white cat has no backrest to support him, one good shot and he falls into the lava and has to wait for the Emperor to rescue him and give him a prosthetic suit of armor.

Proper armor LIKE DR DOOM NEEDEDED IN THIS MOVIE!!!

There I go, I slipped again.
