Never easy to stomach but at least his happened in practice and not some worthless for nothing game like Jordy who probably wouldn't have been on the field the day it happened if not for said game.

49ers OLB Ahmad Brooks has been indicted on misdemeanor sexual battery charges in connection with a pool party that took place last December.
Ex-teammate Ray McDonald was simultaneously indicted on charges of raping an intoxicated woman and won't play in the NFL again. The transgression of which Brooks is accused took place with the same woman McDonald allegedly raped. All of the incidents were believed to be caught on video tape. Brooks is accused of "groping" the woman while she was unconscious. McDonald is in danger of spending many years in prison. It's unclear what will become of Brooks.

Steelers receiver Martavis Bryant is facing a potential four-game suspension.

Bryant is currently appealing a suspension under the league’s substance-abuse policy, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The Steelers selected Bryant with a fourth-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft. As a rookie, Bryant didn’t play at all in the first six games but showed great promise down the stretch, catching 26 passes for 549 yards (a whopping 21.1 yards a catch), with eight touchdowns. This year the Steelers were expected to get Bryant even more involved in their passing game.

Instead, the Steelers may have to plan for a month without Bryant’s services. With Le’Veon Bell also suspended and Maurkice Pouncey injured, the Steelers will be starting the season at much less than full strength on offense.

The Steelers are dropping like flies.

Ryan Mallett missed Thursday's practice because he overslept.
It's hard to fathom for a 27-year-old man who was in pursuit of the Texans' starting job as recently as three days ago. The Texans gave Mallett a chance to make something of his career after three years in the Patriots backup wilderness, and he's responded in remarkably limp fashion. The Browns have a strong case, as well, but you could argue Houston has the worst quarterback situation in the league.

Plan is to resolve next wk.

But even if 4 games stays then brady can still file to play while he appeals the appeal.

He'd be wiser to just take the 4 games now rather than later in the season when games become more important.

Even without Brady, I don't see the Pats any worse than 2-2 after the first four.

It's unlikely Brady would get the stay to play while he appeals. Most legal analysts I've read say that for Brady (or the NFL if the judge rules in Brady's favor) to get a stay of the ruling they would have to show they have a good shot at winning their appeal, and that would be difficult if not impossible.

There's quite a big gap in the opinion of legal analysts view of the case. ESPN's legal analysts both think the CBA pretty much gives Goodell that power to do whatever he wants and thus Brady will lose his appeal. They think that the only reason the judge grilled the NFL so hard was because he'd prefer the NFL and Brady settle. However, most of the other analysts I've read like Michael McCann from SI and sports attorneys Daniel Wallach and Alan Milstein all believe that Brady has a great case because the NFL refused to let Jeffrey Pash, who edited the Wells report, testify in Brady's appeal, with Wallach and Milstein both saying they think it's a near certainty Brady wins the appeal. They both think there's a good chance that judge Berman could make his ruling Monday at the next hearing.
