I'm looking at the Piano Black Lacquer or Walnut finishes. My RC Mini's are Black Lacquer as well and I really like the finish.
I think I would suggest waiting until after the CEDIA show.

???

New Focus line to presented at Cedia?

TWM will not want to spend that much money or maybe of course he could get great discounts but Dynaudio is already clearing them out.

Hmmm... that is certainly interesting. It's only a month and half away so I have no problem waiting for that. Perhaps something with a mix between the Focus and Excites, or just a new addition to the Excites like a slightly higher end model to top the Excite line off?? Bigger center channel maybe??

Post at AVS seems to indicate the X14s are being discontinued. Guy said his dealer offered him a demo pair for $750 because they are on the way out.

What the hell is going on at Dyns????

Focus line what is happening with that also? My dealer got rid of his 260 demo for a clearance price also.

Maybe the dealer in question lost the line and getting rid of his Dyn stuff also which is always a possibility.

Ok guys, so last time I went in to hear the 160’s my regular sales guy was not in so I didn’t ask too many questions about the 210 center channel not being in the store. However, after seeing that post on AVS about the X14’s I decided to just send him a quick email about them.

He says the Focus are officially discontinued and that Denmark should still have some and it would be a 6 week wait if I order them. He also said that they sold the 210c demo and wouldn’t be getting any more in to the store for auditioning. So I asked him about the Excites and what was going to happen to them and he said…

“I was at Munich for the High End show, we understand that Dynaudio will add a larger Excite floorstander, a larger centre speaker and another bookshelf. I am planning to attend CEDIA but am not even sure that Dynaudio will attend. I do not expect to see any new Dynaudio products prior to CES in January 2016. If Dynaudio is at CEDIA, I do not think there will be any new products shown or demonstrated.”

He wouldn’t go into more detail about whether the new larger Excite models would incorporate tech from the Focus line like higher quality tweeters and such, but I think I will wait to see what these new models are like and if I’m not interested I can always look for 160’s and 210 on the used market.

Question is if you did not auditioned and made a blind buy on the 210-C, how much would he sell it to you for?

I would assume you could get a good discount but they cannot really announce it officially but if you are serious about it they would order it for you and honestly you would be surprised of the price you could get it for.

So it does confirm the Fous line is discontinued as my dealer also said as he sold all of his demos.

JMO but I think it would have been easier to fold the Excites into the Focus line. There used to be a Focus 110, so adding the X14 as a Focus 130 and the X34 as a Focus 230... kept the 160, 210, 260 and 340s. Plus you would be able to benefit from a price increase in some products and use the higher tech. But it seems they are gonna just move the 210 (X28), 160 (X18) and 340 (X42)? I have also heard that the changes will be coming more quickly, like Sonus Faber does.

We will see what happens

Yeah I find it hard to believe that Dyn won't show anything at CEDIA, but I do hope he's right about the new additions to the Excite line. Just hoping they include a bit of Focus quality in them.

Of course there is always the Contour line. The prices of the S1.4 and SC Center aren't that much different then the Focus line. $3300 vs $2900 for the monitors, and $2100 vs $1800 for the centers. The difference will be that the Contours need some serious power, so while the Anthem will work for a little bit, you will want a nice amp for them eventually.

Contour vs Focus sound.... Contours are warmer... or should I say slightly more laid-back, not as aggressive as the Focus can be. The 1.4s bass is very strong, mids have a bit of warmth but open and clean, the highs are smooth, smoother then the Focus, without the Focuses neutrality. If you're reading thru the AVS forum, which Im on a lot there, the overall opinion of some of us younger gen Dyn owners feel the Contours are a little dark sounding. And its not that they lack detail or lack transparency, they are just laid-back with solid bass that makes them seem darker sounding. It seems to me that people that are more into Jazz, Classical, vocalists, small ensembles prefer the sound of the Contours. They can be very intimate for those types of musical genres. The Focus is like the all-around multi-sport athlete. Very good at all things, but lacks the total refinement that some audiophiles will prefer for some music. IMO the Excites were originally built to be a lower grade version of the Contours, but they kinda introduced more sparkle and energy to the Excites to make them slightly more Focus-like.

Mmmm Thinking of getting contour 1.4le for fun in piano black with he metallic front baffle, I think I will enjoy them actually

You forget to convert your American prices in Canadian not to mention you can get the Focus at clearance price so the gap is much larger in price Steve.

Someone posted this Youtube vid, C1s and Guess what Sugden Masterclass Power Amps and you see how great this plays, this is why I love my Sugden Class A but would need at least the Masterclass IA in a dedicated 2 channel setup.

He's a friend of mine, he is a member here but rarely post. Hopefully that will change now with his new purchase.
