Regardless of what happens after this film, there will never be another Force Awakens. How do you hype something that took 30 years to happen...and was never in the cards, even in our wildest imaginations? Everything else beyond this will pale in comparison. In many ways, this is the last harrah for those of us who grew up, essentially, from 75-90. They already brought back Indy (and look how that turned out). There is no other iconic beloved character(s) that could possibly be put back on the screen to such praise. |

I don't know, I guess people are different, cause I'd just ignore the people that annoy me and that's it.
As you guys don't like people ready to hate the new film, I don't particularly enjoy all the posts here about people saying how good this film will be, how awesome it will be, how much better than the prequels it will be, bla bla bla. It's the other side of the same coin for me. I'm really hyped for the movie but not sure what to expect really, since I'm staying as spoiler free as I can. A part of me fears it's fan service, letting go from the prequels as much as possible instead of including them somehow so that the now 9 movie saga feels as a whole and not divided. A part of me also is so happy about this and hopes it's an amazing movie. Guess I'll just have to wait till it comes out and see. |

If the movie sucks then all bets are off. And, for everyone criticizing it for being "fan service," what's so wrong with pleasing people? Granted, you should try and do something new but, then again, how many films do that nowadays? All we get are remakes, sequels and comic book movies. VERY LITTLE originality left in Hollywood. I'd rather a sequel be made that is good and panders to fans than something crappy that does or doesn't pander to fans. Pandering, in and of itself, isn't necessarily a bad thing. |

For the 7,000th time: Over 1,000 films are released each year in the US alone! Hardly any of them are remakes, sequels, or comic book movies. |

The problem about fan service is that sometimes it's so evident it makes the movie less appealing to me. For example, everyone knows the shit Man Of Steel took for having Superman destroyed Metropolis in his fight with Zod and apparently letting people die (true or not, doesn't matter).
Then when I watched Age of Ultron in the theatre, they specifically made a point in the movie to take their time to evacuate an entire city and make sure all civilians are safe before they go and fight the bad guys. To me it was such an obvious move from Marvel that made me like the movie less than I already was. If they can do ''fan service'' but still do an awesome movie, that doesn't do what AOU did to MOS, then I'm all for it. But the specific ''practical effects'' talk during interviews and stuff, makes me feel they're just aiming to please the OT fans, while TFA and the PT may have the same amount of both practical and CGI effects. Doesn't matter if true or not, it's just those little things that worry me. Hopefully I'm wrong, I want this movie to be a great one obviously, wouldn't want to see my favorite movie saga go down the drain. And with all the new movies and spin off movies they're gonna do, there's a great danger it might happen. |

![]() Think back to the movies that WERE popular in the 70's-90's. At least they were original stories. I find myself going to more art-house flicks nowadays than big budget films. They end up being disappointing. Quote:

That's lovely. Everyone has their opinions and that's the beauty of it. I for one, thought AOU was ok, nothing great but not bad either. Had its moments, but it was a bit of a mess overall for me. But I really liked Man of Steel. Loved the tone, the characters, the casting... and I for one don't think Superman destroyed Metropolis, it was that damn thing that was terra-forming. But let's not get off topic!
