Germany Metegol

Metegol/Foosball/Underdogs/Fussball

German disc - unfortunately without the Spanish language track (also no English). The german dub is quite bad (the actors). The sound has a rather low dynamic range (most likely in all language versions - the Dutch track sounds the same)
The quality of the rendering/the animation is excellent and the story also very nice (but a bit scary for kids).
The 3D ist not extreme but fun enough.

Quite curious about this one. Let us know what you think when you've had a chance to check it out.

Thanks. It's a good alternative. But I had to get a version with German for my kids.

Warning: Only the Amazon.es site lists English. The Audio specifications on the back of the Futbolín (BD + BD 3D) [Blu-ray] does not list English.

Just watched with family, I never understand the hate for this, I've always enjoyed the extra dimensions.

I finally have the time to be able to sit down and watch this later tonight.

3D was decent, but 3D was better in Avengers I thought.

Biggest disappointment has to be the sound. It is a lot quieter than all of the big blockbusters that I own, you have to crank the volume right up. There is still good surround effects & the LFE channel is still very active but this ain't a patch on something like Transformers or Godzilla from last year which IT SHOULD BE.

Bit of a quiet weekend on the 3D front but I did manage to watch a couple of animated films:

Happy Feet 2 - a very good looking movie in terms of the CGI but I can't say I was at all impressed with the 3D, which fell into the "nice but barely noticeable" category as it was all kept firmly behind the screen until the end credits when some bubbles started floating out. It makes me really mad when I watch a 3D film and the best 3D is during the credits - it reminds me of how many opportunities for quality 3D the film wasted.

The Legend Of Sarila - Canada's first animated 3D movie. When it started I thought it looked a bit primitive, a bit like the first Ice Age, but as it went on the style (and indeed the film) grew on me. The 3D wasn't too bad either, I got a real sense of dimensionality and noticed the odd pop-out here and there, though as always I would have liked more of that. Good voice acting by Christopher Plummer. I had to get this from Germany as there's no 3D release in the UK.

Are you kidding? Did you really just reference Godzilla as having audio to compete with, especially with regard to its LFE. The one where they clipped the heck out of the bass? Or is it really that mediocre, that even a botched release is better?

Sorry if you want to talk about amazing audio Transformers is good, TF4 I have some issues with regarding the mix but I get why people like it, but your more looking at Oblivion, the two latest Star Treks and similar.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and JUPITER ASCENDING.

Watching these two films leaves me cold. 3-D doesn't cover up the big gaping hole at the center. It's not the dim murky digital capture that looks a xerox that I'm complaining about. I'll never fully adjust to that. Maybe it's the rapid-fire pacing and tossing in the kitchen sink approach. Instead of putting the premise and a certain statement through its paces, the films keep throwing new stuff into the mix, without background or motivation. Instead of following through on an idea, just drop it and throw in another idea. The actors deliver lines as if they're in some terrible existential pain, but there is no suffering on display that is connected to how people live. Instead they strike poses and make faces. Neither film would seem so shallow if they played it for laughs. There's no time to get into these stories, and there's no story to get into. STAR WARS, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and THE FUGITIVE were my idea of fast-paced movies. They must seem awfully slow to moviegoers now. The breakneck speed and disassociation from the human dimension of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and JUPITER ASCENDING are not good for cinematic storytelling. One thing hasn't changed: stories take time to tell well.

The 3-D conversion is how it is, both quite spectacular and precisely what you'd expect from films shot in a green room and matched to a computer generated environment. I'm going to watch both films again, to acclimate myself for STAR WARS 7 THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Watched the German import of Vie 3D (or Fürst der Dämonen 3D). Man this movie really rocked. What a speedy monster ridden fantasy adventure. It really does move along at a pretty pace. Just note how fast the opening credits fly by giving you barely enough time to read the names. At the opening I thought I was watching a Pirates of the Caribbean movie with Charles Dance finding his daughter with the guy. But once the story gets moving I was totally invested. The 3D in this thing started off a little on again off again in some shots. But as it progressed it really became a spectacular 'conversion'?, with a lot expanding the screen shots seemingly when needed (the apple, the tree in the church, the coffin, axe, that table scene) It just goes on. All in all I think this is a great disc for the collector who wants an entertaining 3D adventure flick, loaded with creatures and shots that pretty much wow you (at least for me).

I haven't posted here in a bit cause I've been working on my You Tube channel called Channel Donstar. I have an extensive bluray collection and I'm in the process of showing them off in my Defending My Collection videos. Give them a look sometime!

Mark Twain once said something about how industrialization had of robbed life of its sweet repose and nurturing humor. He was a 19th century man light years ahead of everyone else, intellectually, but he was speaking in the early 1900s. What would he have made of KING KONG if he had lived until 1933. STAR WARS, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and THE FUGITIVE were my idea of fast-paced movies. They must seem awfully slow to moviegoers now. Can't comment on Guardians, but huge amounts of what people assume is cgi in Jupiter was real. Yes the space scenes are not obviously, but given the designs etc practical effects thread simply made no sense. As someone who enjoyed both these films The Fugitive, Blade Runner etc don't seem slow to me, they just seem different.

Regarding digital vs film, I doubt you could tell if they made the digital footage look like film an vice versa. Both are great ways of shooting a film now. I agree with the overly fast pacing films tend to be going with currently. Far to many times they feel out of breathe etc. This wasn't an issue I had with the two films mentioned, but it is an issue I have with many. Though if you really think digital capture looks "dim murky digital capture that looks a xerox" I can't see anything ever changing your mind, don't know how you like much or any modern 3d either then really.

@Zippy56

VIY was shot natively in 3-D by stereographers Michael Laakmann, Florian Maier & Marcus Zaiser.

The 3D was quite good and I still enjoy the film but I still like the first film better.

Big fan of these movies anyway, so thought this was very enjoyable in 3D. A few decent pop outs with broken glass, weapons and grenade rings coming at you.

Found some of the special features interesting too. They explained that filming in 3D meant they had to come up with different ways to get some of the shots. The best example they gave was having a stunt double do the initial jump and Kate Beckinsale the landing, when she jumps over a large fence near the start of the movie.
Pity these directors aren't filming the new one. You'd think they could do an even better job after the experience of doing this one.

I watched Jupiter Ascending in 3D last night and enjoyed it much more than when I previously saw it in 2D - it was much easier to follow the action and I was primed for the often silly animal gene stuff. Even the pacing (which first time round felt both rushed and draggy) seemed fine though I still could have done with the annoying family scenes cut down further. As for the 3D, the conversion falls into my "nice" category - all very respectable in terms of depth but not really delivering the range of 3D I would have liked. Still a hell of a lot better than 2D though...

I also watched B.O.B.'s Big Break in 3D, having just hunted down the Samsung exclusive of Monsters vs Aliens - needless to say it looked excellent, with some outstanding pop-outs. It's stupid that it wasn't included in the 3D retail version...
