Amp occasionally not responding??

Now I've had my Sony HTSS 1300 about 8 years now and this has only happened about 5 times but after it happened the other night I thought I'd finally ask...

Very rarely I turn on my player then try to turn on my amp and the amp doesn't come on?

It won't even turn on by the player itself?

The only way I can solve it is to turn the power off at the wall and when I turn it back on all is fine and the amp turns on first time??

Like I said this is very rare, but what could be causing this??
