No Luke & Leia, no Han, no Empire, not enough humans, no familiar planets, no Millennium Falcon, no X-Wings, no TIE Fighters, no Imperial cruisers or any other ships from the original trilogy. We only get to see some near the end of Episode III, almost.
That's why I admire and respect the PT so much. Lucas didn't go the easy road and just re use stuff from the OT that people like you wanted to see. Lucas created practically a whole new Star Wars universe, that, in my honest opinion, fits perfectly with the OT. You weren't supposed to see Han, or the Empire or anything like that. You are wrong expecting that from the PT. It's about how everything got to that point

Precisely; the whole point of the prequels was showing the backstory of how the galaxy got so screwed up to begin with. The Jedi had become so over-confident and dogmatic, that Palpatine was able to operate from the shadows for years. I still wish Lucas would've included Qui-Gon's scene with Yoda in the Blu-Ray release for "Sith".

Kid Vader, Jabba, Yoda, Young Obi-Wan, C-3PO, R2-D2, Kid Boba Fett, Chewie, and of course the "rhyming."

I thought it was terrible how the PT ignored the technology of the OT and had technology that was so much more advanced. I don't buy the whole concept that the clone wars made technology regress that much. That, along with many other flaws, make the PT pale in comparison to the OT IMO. VII looks like a return to form with filmmakers that actually care about making an excellent movie.

Its not that the technology regressed, but that the Empire kept a tight monopoly on it. As a result, the Alliance had to create their own or resort to stealing from Imperials.

I so agree... I've never seen anything quite like this before. I live in Boise, Idaho for cripes sake and ALL of our Thursday evening and Friday day/night showings in every single theater in and around the area are sold out (and still for us that's a lot of showings). I have people hitting me up that aren't usually on top of movies asking when they should buy tickets so that they don't miss out on it over the Christmas school break. Lol... it's a good bet that The Force Awakens will shatter ALL records!!!

I just want to point out about something really (er...) important in the new trailer I haven't seen mentioned here (sorry if someone has already and I missed it)
[Show spoiler]...and that is about a memorable returning character who had a confrontation with Chewbacca in A New Hope...

If correct, that spoiler plot just feels kinda… all over the place. Convoluted. STAR WARS was, at its best, very simple and straightforward, using time-honored tropes from the "Hero's Journey": the farm boy, the old mentor, the quest to save the princess. Even ESB had two very clear storylines: the adventures of the Millennium Falcon and the training of a Jedi. This one--if true, and that's a big "if"--just doesn't seem like a good STORY, on the most basic level. Just seems like "this happens" then "that happens", etc.

Personnally, I don't like some coincidences in it, like how all the characters meet. But I'm honestly not sure that's exactly how it will play out. I feel there's lots of missing pieces.

It seems like it's all based on stuff we've seen and the other stuff is filled with the rumors that have been floating around for the last year or so.

I have a feeling there's a LOT to this movie we haven't seen a glimpse of yet. I doubt Abrams would have put nearly the entire movie out there in publicity for us to jigsaw together. We have many more surprises in store for us (hopefully).

You mean somehow you think this is more coincidental that how they meet Anakin in episode 1? Or find Han in episode 4? Or how the droids come to Luke in episode 4?

There's really nothing convulted at all about that summary. I think you're trying to make the movie seem bad. There's one very clear storyline in this film too, with several character arcs. Just like several of the other Star Wars films.
