I dont own that many Arrow releases yet (though 32 titles on their way to me, thanks to the awesome Black Friday sale ^^), but so far my favourite release is Black Friday and Phenomena.
32?! Nice start!

Maybe try and forget about the Christmas sale then.

La grande bouffe is wondering in terms of technical presentation, extras and design.
I also like what they did with Zardoz and Hard to be a god.
Then, probably some of their Borowczyk titles, or Salvatore Giuliano.

Someone on Rock!Shock!Pop! has mentioned that Lisa Petrucci (Something Weird) revealed on Facebook that Arrow are going to release a "greatest hits" box set of Herschell Gordon Lewis films with all new 4K scans.

Is there any way to know if the Academy titles like "Hard to be a God", "La Grande Bouffe", "Cinema Paradiso", "The Firemen’s Ball", "Closely Observed Trains" still have the booklet or not. I really want the booklets, so is there any consensus of there are already new editions without the booklet distributed by Arrow Shop or Amazon?

Yeah, right? ^^ Most of the Fans were not happy with the Black Friday deals, that what I gathered from Facebook, but for me as a new collector it was just the perfect opportunity to get a big chunk of their ouvre. ) Bava, Di Palma, Vincent Price, Jack Hill, Nikkatsu, Borowczyk, all those bundles should be a good start to delve into the Arrow Video world. Still on the fence about the Dassin bundle...

I would guess a year after release. Can't imagine a run selling out that quickly, but who knows. But in person at places like HMV you'd be able to tell just by the weight of the box.

Bit the bullet and ordered three bundles:
Vincent Price
Jules Dassin
Mario Bava

£105 for 18 blus. Pretty happy with that.

On the fence about the DePalma bundle. How good are Obsession and Phantom of the Paradise? They're the only two that I haven't seen.

Damn you Arrow bundles for being so bloody superb (and extremely cost effective)!

I couldn't help myself, I just couldn't pass up on that De Palma bundle.

Hell, last time I saw Phantom of the Paradise was at the Drive-In in '74.

Long time between drinks/ crushings in record presses there....

they said on Facebook that if you bought within first 6 mths, you should be fine, longer with some slower selling titles.

Cinema Paradiso is an older release so will have a booklet until the need to repress I imagine.

So basically: don't worry until February or later.

I would be amazed if the eastern european titles are big sellers, and even if they end up being so over the longer term, they are not going to be fast sellers in non-limited editions.

Firemen and Closely were released less than 2 months ago ! Nothing to worry about them.
