With the new films being produced, things at Lucasfilm would need to change anyway regardless of who owns Lucasfilm (such as the expanded universe no longer canon). Still, you'll always have unhappy fans quick to blame Disney first.
You're gonna have unhappy fans regardless. You can find fans who pick apart the original trilogy too.

The good-news and bad since I'm a disney stockholder is they are in this thing for the long haul they're not going to sit on this franchise like LF did.

Disney will continue to put out product, some good, some bad... But overall its good news for people who like Starwars because even if you hate this movie or the next one, at some point over the next decade I'm sure they'll have a chance to impress even the hardest to please fan with some level of quality content.

I do the same, not sure what causes it. As a work around you can click on the post number and all functions should work from there.

I just have to say... as a theater employee, I am not looking forward to the hordes of people that will be overwhelming the theater... however... the paycheck will be nice.

Will the paycheck be more than normal (outside of possibly getting extra hours/shifts)?

As a theater-goer, the concession lines are gonna be a pain in the ass. Here's hoping the theater has an employee at each register and doesn't pull a Walmart on us.

That didn't stop him from dropping a veiled hint in the now deleted post! I think everyone's getting a bit antsy this close to release, even though I'm not seeing it for ages yet I'm starting to feel the force too.

Even at the busiest times the multiplex I used to go to back in London had one person at the concession/ticket counter (becuz they do all that shit at one counter now) and someone else checking the tickets, that's it. The concession chaos will be strong with this one.

I bet if he spoke in Pig Latin, the monitoring software they installed on his machines wouldn't pick on up it

I can tell you right now, that for the first 3 days (I have yet to check the staff list past that) of Star Wars, that the theater I work at will have all stations manned, so that breaks down to 6 tickets registers, and 8 concessions.

Then you have the small army that will be cleaning and the handful of people directing the crowd to their theaters and checking tickets.

That's good to know, hopefully AMC is doing the same thing on Thursday night. My 15/70 screening the next day shouldn't be anywhere near as chaotic, but I'm fearful for how long I'll need to wait for popcorn on Thursday

That would explain a lot, but sadly it's a theater chain based in Atlanta.

Corporate may be clueless, but the management at the theater itself is pretty good.

As for the popcorn wait, we only have two kettles and there is no way that we will be able to keep up with demand, not to mention how many soda's we will have to switch out.

Concessions I fear is under supplied for the onslaught of Star Wars.

It will be like the Alamo all over again.

This is sounding like the theater chain equivalent of Black Friday haha

I wasn't planning to show up too early because the seats are reserved, but I might anyway. Also I mentioned this in another post, but I have a suspicion that my theater is overbooking these shows, so it's another reason for me to get there early and make sure and my buddy actually get seats.

One of the books I got for Christmas 1980. Still have it. Pages are a yellowish orange now for some reason but I still re-read it from time to time.

A day to day diary. The events you're referring to Geoff take place while they were shooting in Norway. Lucas put Gary Kurtz in charge while he set up ILM and got the financing done. When the production moved to England Lucas flew over and hung out on set to supervise, Kurtz went back to CA.

Black Friday will have nothing on Star Wars. As for the overbooking, that's not an issue here, the real problem will be people sneaking in to see it on our Big D screen. So whoever is on post there will have to be extra vigilant.
