The most impressive Saban stat for me is that he is undefeated in national title games. It doesn't appear that he is going to leave Alabama, and I expect him to own the outright record over Bryant by the time he is done. In today's world of college football to be 5-0 in title games is just crazy.

I wonder how long Saban will keep coaching. He doesn't look it but he's 64. Coaching is a high stress job and at some point he could decide he's tired of putting in the long hours and dealing with everything being a college coach entails. ESPN has never made a secret of how badly they'd love to hire Saban. He could replace Lee Corso on Gameday, barely have to work much of the year, and still make a bundle of money.

TV ratings were down about 15% from last years game. That surprises me, it was a hell of a game last night.

Who knows. Some guys live for coaching and others like John Gruden, Bill Cowher, etc. are content collecting a paycheck for doing far less work in a broadcast/commentary booth. I don't think Saban is another Bowden or Paterno type who will insist on being head coach until he dies but I also don't see him retiring within the next few years. I'd guess he sticks around at Alabama 5-10 years before retiring unless some NFL team offers him a ridiculous contract.

I think it's just the newness of the first playoff last year that created more attention than this year. ESPN also did themselves no favors by scheduling the semifinal games on New Years eve when most people don't want to watch college football. Seems the lack of interest carried over to the title game.

ESPN has no say in when the games are played. Their contract gives complete scheduling control to the College Football Playoffs, and while ESPN wanted to have the semis on 1/2 the CFP insisted on 12/31. Next year shouldn't be as big an issue with 12/31 being a Saturday so fewer people will have to work, and for the 2017 season the games will be played on New Year's Day because the semis are hosted by the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl, so we won't have the semis on a weekday until 12/31/18.

With what they're paying for rights it has to be sky high ratings. They were still somewhat mediocre numbers though.

I think it's as simple as Clemson not being as high profile.

Oregon and Ohio State(and Alabama for that matter) are both easily top 10 earners year in year out, Clemson hovers around #40.

For example, here's the 2013-2014 rankings:

http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances/

Oregon #1, Alabama #4, Ohio State #5, Clemson #39.

I think Oregon's financial numbers are badly inflated due to their special relationship with Nike. I seriously doubt they're anywhere near the TV draw programs like Texas, Alabama and Ohio St. are.

Now I feel old. Randy Moss's son Thaddeus Moss has committed to play for NC State as a TE. He's a highly rated recruit, rated 4 stars by Rivals.com and recruited by most major programs.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-...002623565.html

Quote:
Thaddeus Moss, son of former NFL star receiver Randy Moss, has committed to N.C. State.

Moss, a 6-foot-4 four-star tight end for the 2016 class, chose the Wolfpack among 30 other offers. His final decision came down to N.C. State, UCLA, Texas A&M and Southern California. He is the No. 6 tight end in the country, according to Rivals.com.

"It just felt right," Moss told ESPN.com. "It's close to home, it felt right, and they kept it real with me from day one. NC State was the first team to offer, and loyalty was rewarded."

Moss is the highest-ranked commit for the Wolfpack’s 2016 class. He said that while he consulted his father toward the end of his recruitment, he wanted to make a point to stay out of his dad’s shadow.

Florida State has agreed to a $950,000 Title IX settlement with Erica Klinsman, who accused Jameis Winston of raping her. Klinsman still has a pending lawsuit against Winston, and Winston has countersued Klinsman for defamation.

Man oh man Louisville 2016 schedule is very front loaded, plays FSU and Clemson within the 1st 5 games of the season, Duke comes here on Oct. 14th and then plays @ Houston the week before we (once again) eliminate UK from making a bowl game if they have 5 wins like lately.

Looking forward to the Louisville game here along with our opening game in the Texas Kickoff Classic at NRG against Oklahoma. I will be at both of those games. Would love to see another great season at UH and maybe, just maybe dream of making the CFP.

Mercer keeps upping their FBS schedule. GT in September, Auburn next year, and now Alabama in 2017 and 2021.

It'll be interesting to see how Ole Miss's class holds up today after all the negative publicity they went through last week.

Man we cleaned up today! I'm so happy with this class, we are number 1 right now on Rivals and 247 and number 2 on ESPN. Bama most likely will jump us tho.
