Still waiting for a price drop on this film that apparently won some kind of award tonight.

Uh. It was between $8 to $10 between end of November and beginning of January...

So it has had price drops.

Frustrated that this didn't win visual effects, but it did scoop up damn near everything else (the makeup and costume awards were the biggest surprises to me) and I'm happy it got as recognition as it did. Props to George Miller, you mad Australian bastard!

I think what screwed it was the desert storm scene. As cool as it was, it was never truly convincing.

I doubt it. Rather, the votes were split between Mad Max and Star Wars (which won big at the Visual Effects Society), and Ex Machina snuck in. Nobody was expecting the latter to win - a true upset.

I can't be too upset about it. That's a remarkable achievement for Ex Machina, and Mad Max walked away with the most awards of the night.

I mean...the movie was good. But it really didn't deserve all of the awards it got compared to the other films nominated.

Only ones I didn't fully agree with was the sound awards.

Mad Max: Fury Road is now the most awarded Australian film by the Oscars with it's six wins tonight. The previous record was 1993's The Piano, which won three.

Also, I believe Fury Road is the first movie to win 6 Oscars, but not Best Director or Best Picture, since the original Star Wars ended up with the same total amount nearly 40 years ago. Quite an achievement on both fronts.

Miller has stated a hundred times he doesn't want to do a sequel right away. But perhaps in a couple of years. And to be honest, it only made #3 mil more domestic than it cost to make, with all its profit coming from foreign. So it's not like it was a gigantic hit, but more of a critical one.

It definitely deserved all the technical awards it got, especially for sound. On an aural level, the film is simply stunning to listen to.

I'm in awe of this film's performance at the Oscars Simply amazing that it won 6 prizes (all deserving). I just can't fathom a film like this being nominated, let alone killing it. This could only lead to one thing: more Mad Max films

obviously, this movie has been sitting at almost 100% on Rotten Tomatoes since it came out in May and yet by late February almost a year later you still haven't come to terms with your confusion?

Consider me very jealous!

This movie only won so many Oscars because there are no black people in it.
