I've been monitoring the 4k reviews and I have to say I have been to date utterly underwhelmed. In fact I believe the best 4k release (picture improvement wise) to date has been Pineapple Express. I actually adore that film. But if 4k has taught me anything it is than any blockbuster or 3D release, or absolutely EVERYTHING with any CG has been mastered in 2k so the improvement for a xxxxing 4k upscale is marginal.
So, I started thinking, what great film shot movies with no CG would I want a 4k upgrade of? Either that you think their cinematographic excellence demands it, or it got a totally rubbish blu-ray release and the source is well above 2k? I'd love to say "Oh gee I'd like [insert comic book movie title here]" but given a) they were rendered the cg and probably mastered at 2k or less, and b) there is no 4k 3d, what is the point. For starters, I'd say - The Deer Hunter - First Blood - The Thing - Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - Alien Last edited by Scottie; 02-26-2017 at 05:35 PM. |
