Wish I Hadn't Bought "Delta-Farce"

Usually the blu collar guys are pretty funny, but damn, that was the worst blind buy ever

I thought of another one Over America, its was cheap but it was terrible, the picture was ok but the documentary it self was just bad, the 10$ i spent on it could've gone to a good blu

Ghost Rider - liked it the first time I watched it, then bought the blu sometime after that. I guess I forgot how horrible a movie it is besides a few good scenes.

Transporter 2 - blind bought this one cause I got it cheap and the first one was awesome. Horrible special effects and a cheesy storyline... not even Jason Statham could save this.

I have a few other blind buys that I haven't sat down and watched yet, so we'll see how those go. Once I get through all of my unwatched, I'll throw these two and anything else I don't like up on the trading forum.

I think the movie sucked, you seem to think it was great - perhaps you haven't seen a BD with great PQ - or your display is so fried all BDs look the same.

Tier 1? LMAO!

Is that you mj?
From people who know far more about it than you apparently:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=858316

I made no comment regarding the plot, actors, or quality of the story itself...I mentioned the PQ.

AVS? ROFL! Ok, thanks!

The PQ sucked.
Some "people" are often blinded by wanting to fit in... following "the crowd".
I value being an independent thinker and making up my own mind.

I Robot - excellent PQ
Speed Racer - excellent PQ
Cars - excellent PQ
300 - poor PQ

YMMV.
Now, if you cannot accept my or anyone else's assessment of the PQ, sorry!
Apparently we differ on opinion as to what PQ is.

Have a great evening!

Total Recall... I RECALLED the movie to be awesome as a child... today, I realize that the movie wasn't what I thought it was as a child... and that the true identity of the movie shocked me to the core. (at least I got it at $15.99 CAD lol)

I can honestly say none. I don't really buy movies unless I like them. The only blu I wish I didn't have is Spiderman 3....and the only reason I have it is because it was free

I'm guessing the 300 PQ is due to all the grain? My bro has it on DVD and the grain just makes me cry myself to sleep

i can accept that you are a douch, why dont you lay off on the arrogance a lil. Thats fine if you dont think the pq is any good, but the majority of people, including the reviewer at this site and many others disagree

My opinion happens to be the same opinion shared by most:

Quote:
What you want to look for is the sharpness of detail (does the picture have plenty of depth and pop-out of the screen or does it look real and film-like), color (are they true to reality, especially blues, reds and greens; are blacks black and whites white), and video artifacts (is the picture bobbed or is there too much noise and edge enhancement).

Sometimes, the picture is so sharp that it’s almost three-dimensional or characters on screen appear to live in a three-dimensional space. This 3-D effect can be ruined by a picture being too soft or out-of-focus. A good example of this is the intentional softness of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. While the picture of the film is very good and looks very film-like, it lacks depth. However, it still ranks in Tier 3 because it also lacks any video artifacts and the picture quality is very pristine.

Video artifacts are a common result of the amount of damage the original master copy of the film has sustained over time; but they can also be a result of the process used to transfer a film into a digital media. A bobbed image is, simply put, the process of upconverting a picture with a resolution of 480-scan lines to 1080p, creating “jaggies” or “stair-stepping.” This process can also result in rare cases of chroma noise, which affects solid colors like blues and reds by making them appear grainy rather than pure. Other video artifacts which can be problematic are low level noise (which affects the blackest part of the image, making it look grainy and almost grey rather than a deep, solid black), macro-blocking (which is a result of bandwidth limitations and exposes pixels, making fast-paced scenes
look pixelated), and edge enhancement (which results in a halo effect around a character or object; it’s a visible issue for those folks using CRT projectors or digital front projectors).
Quote:
Tier 1 - Gold (Excellent)

--- Video artifacts are next to nothing with a good sense of realistic feel. The image is sharp and nicely detailed and still serves as a good demo material.
Quote:
Just look at the film grain itself, prevalent throughout 300, to get a sense of the resolution. I would be inclined to rate the video much more harshly if the film grain was missing or not adequately resolved. I notice much whining about film grain, but that is like whining about water being wet. If it isn't wet, it wouldn't seem like water. And if there is no film grain in the picture, it wouldn't seem like film. Another subject of whining: 300 is in an aspect ratio of 2.4:1. I enjoy this ratio, but those wary of black bars, be warned.
I will take the word of the recognized PQ experts at AVS, the vast majority of viewers, and this very website over your opinion any day. Perhaps the issue has something to do with your display.

Blasphemer ! Total Recall is still one of my all time favorites! Not the greatest Blu, to be honest, but I'm still happy with it.

Although I'll admit to being a sucker for Arnie films.

I only buy the movies I love so I don't have any on the list. I've blind bought movies on DVD but too expensive to blind buy on Blu-Ray...well for me anyways.

LOL I find that some of his action/comedy movies are awesome, while other's no longer are. Kindergarten Cop on blu-ray is the holy grail to me

I'd gladly pay any cost to get my hands on that one too! I'd gladly import it, would be the first title I've ever imported. I'm generally happy waiting for titles to make their way to the US without paying import costs, but if that one ever came out...

1.) Juno - I had a good time when I first saw at my local theater. Then I bought the disc when it came out, and that's when disaster struck. Everything I found funny the first time around quickly became grating. Also the music selection really got on my nerves (I absolutely hate indie rock now). I wanted the makers of this film to choke on their own smug quirkiness. Suffice to say it got sold very quickly. Otherwise I might have done something...permanent to it.

2.) Independence Day - For the longest time I had a bizarre love/hate relationship with this one. I liked it in the theaters, but then turned against it. I then watched my brother's old laserdisc copy of it and liked it once again. Months later I outright ignored it. Next I had a change of heart and bought the DVD when it came out, and then got rid of it months later. Then the Blu-Ray came out. Once again I found myself buying a copy of it (it was going for $20 at Target as part of a sale). This time it only lasted a couple of days before I sold it. Hopefully this is the last time (unless another format comes out in a few years).
Haha. That's funny. I go through the same thing with certain movies. I liked Juno in theaters but I can't say I'd ever buy it. As for Independence Day... I don't know if I'd buy it just because it comes on tv every other day.

I think I understand this. Independence Day has just not held up well for me over the years. I was excited when it came out in the theater of course. I was pretty young and almost obsessed with this flick. And I'm sure I saw it probably 2 or 3 times in the theater. It came out on video, and we got it on VHS. But by the time it came out on dvd, I was not interested in getting it but was eventually gonna pick it up when it got cheap. Never did. I've seen it a few times on TV and gotten a kick out of a few scenes, but at this point I have no interest whatsoever in buying it on Blu-ray, no matter how good it looks.
