Indeed they are.

I really don't like to get sucked into rating depth and layering, even more so when I'm watching a film for the first time. I either notice the 3D (as I did with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out Of The Shadows) or I find my brain rendering it forgettable (e.g. large chunks of The Amazing Spider-Man).
