I was planning on using my Region A PS4 for any discs locked to region A (My Blu ray player is Region B) but I gave up when it wants to always connect to the internet prior to playing a disc. I'd rather just purchase a dedicated Blu Ray player.

From what I gather the Ps3 is a whole lot better with playing Blu rays.
