Default Audio issues while playing Blu-ray

First of all, I just want to say this is a wonderful forum, with lots of great resources for finding answers to all my questions. Thanks to all who contribute.

Now, on to the question: This may not be a blu-ray issue, as much as a home video issue (BR/DVD/etc.), but it's becoming more and more prevalent as I watch BR movies on my PS3. The problem is finding a comfortable volume level to watch the movies at. Often, I'll put a BR/DVD movie into the player, press play, and I'll have trouble hearing/understanding the dialogue going on in the movie. So, I turn up the volume to a point where I can actually hear/decipher what is being said, but then a special effects sequence, or a montage, will occur, and it's WAY, WAY TOO LOUD. Maybe it's the audio mix, but it's frusturating. I'm constantly turning volume up (to hear quiet dialogue scenes), and then hurrying to turn it down because a LOUD sequence has just started. To tell the truth, the past few movies I've watched, I've just resorted to watching with subtitles so that I can understand dialogue without blowing my speakers.

Anyone else have this trouble while watching movies at home? Solutions?

THANK YOU. (hopefully, I've posted this in the right section of the forum)
