It's often tempting to blame BBFC fees, but then you realize that they paid to have most or all of the content classified on DVD, anyway, so, that can't be it.

At this point, I can only assume that it has something to do with the value of Sterling, and with majors needing to pay for manufacturing of UK editions outside of the country, before having to effectively import them into the market. I guess Australia either does its own manufacturing, and/or benefits from its proximity to Asia and Japan.

Thanks for posting this James. I reckon you at Soda have picked the right titles for Blu-ray release more often than not. Still a little disappointed Jauja didn't get one - even through your Film+Art range - but will still get the DVD at some point, since it's the only option for UK collectors. Eternally grateful about Kumiko though, as it was hands-down my favourite film of 2015.

You've chosen some great titles this year to release on Blu-ray so far - I will be picking up The Forbidden Room, Rams, Disorder, Louder Than Bombs and Remainder at some point (and still need to get Phoenix from last year) - but I wonder if you'll consider some back catalogue stuff? Either stuff you've already licensed for DVD, or something clearly missing from UK distribution (like the Jarmusch, Reichardt and Marker sets you released).

Chi-Raq is my big "When is that coming out?" title. Spike Lee, Sam Jackson, John Cusack....you'd think it would have "name" value enough to merit release.

What do you guys think the chances of Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Under the Shadow coming out on Blu from Vertigo are like?

I would have thought Hunt for the Wilderpeople would have been up for pre order on places like Amazon by now. That fact that it's not is making me doubtful it'll happen

I'm also disappointed that Demolition with Jake Gyllenhaal seems to only have been released on a region locked US blu ray and nowhere else.

Still can't believe Dog Soldiers (A British Production) only has a crappy DVD release here while the US are treated to a Collector's Edition by SF. Poor transfer or not, it's ridiculous.

Hunt For The Wilderpeople
Under The Shadow
Cafe Society
Swiss Army Man

These titles I'm really worried won't get a Blu Release in the UK which is a shame as they are all probably in my top 10 of the year so far...

Just another reason to pick up a region free player I suppose...

If it any consolation you can get Region B Blu Rays of Hunt for the Wilderpeople & Swiss Army Man from Australia.

However, Cafe Society & Under the Shadow will be DVD only in Oz.

Forgot about Swiss Army Man, but stuff like Blue Ruin, Green Room and The Lobster which were distributed by Picturehouse managed to find a good disc distributer so I'm hopeful for that.

Theres a bunch of films id like to get on bluray. Even if they aren't necessarily big blockbusters, they are still what id call rather well known films by the big name actors in them and they have a fan base.

Films like Medicine Man, Forever Young, George of the Jungle and Loaded Weapon. Relegated to DVD only, shameful

It's starting to look like we might not be getting any form of Blu-Ray/DVD release for 'Swiss Army Man'. This breaks my heart a little as this was my favorite film of last year and it sucks that the U.K is getting left behind on some great titles.

It's happening a lot, it's ridiculous.
Demolition was one of my favourite films of last year and there is still no UK release in sight. I shall be importing from Canada, since a friendly user on the Canada board confirmed it was region free.

I thought maybe The Wailing would just be a bit late over here but no, DVD only this month. Shocking for possibly the best film I saw last year. It's even being contemplated by Scott Free for a US remake.

The US Blu Ray release from Well Spring is Region Free. It's a beauty too!

No sign of a Blu-ray for The Edge Of Seventeen, will have to import the US release.

Looks like one of my favourite films of 2016 Krisha is only getting a dvd release in the uk (at least on amazon there is only a pre order for a dvd). Hope it gets a US blu ray release.
