I own The Samsung P1200, and to me, is by far the better one. I had the Sony S300 and I ended up returned it.

PQ and SQ is about the same for both players. But what set the Samsung apart from the Sony is the start up, and loading time, specially for the BD's that have the Java load. (i.e) the POTC discs. The Sony really struggles on these discs, taking as long as 2 1/2 minutes to load. The Samsung load these discs in about 45 seconds. (huge difference if you ask me).

Another issue with the Sony is the resume playback feature. If you power the unit off, there is no resume playback. The movie just starts off from the beginning, menus and all. The Samsung P1200 does have this feature, even if you power the unit off, and I heard that the Panny player also has this feature. Not having this feature on the S300, to me is a deal breaker.

Note: The resume playback feature does not work on any BD discs that requires the Java load on any players.
