Don't expect a release before 8 month - 1 year, at the earliest.
Japan don't even have a release date, then there's the holdback (at least 4- 6 months) so... yeah nothing before end of 2017 or worst 2018.

Andrew said that the October 30 date was just a placeholder, and doesn't mean much of anything. Going by that date, and knowing AL, I would expect it more like February 2018, lol...

I saw your Your Name (never mind how or where)-while it was good it wasn't nearly as good as Makoto Shinkai's earlier works.

The Eiga Natalie news website reported on Wednesday that Funimation Films' release of Makoto Shinkai's your name. anime film will screen on more than 200 screens with English subtitles or dub in North America.

The group RADWIMPS is creating all-new English-language versions of the songs it created for the original film, and the new versions will be featured in the English-dubbed version of the film. The film's official website also revealed on Wednesday that beginning on January 28, 17 Japanese theaters will begin screening an English-subtitled version of the movie with the new English versions of the film's four theme songs.

RADWIMPS' official YouTube channel is streaming a video featuring the English version of the "Zen Zen Zense" song, titled "Zenzenzense (English ver.)."

The songs will also go on sale digitally on January 27, with a CD release on February 22. The CD of RADWIMPS' soundtrack will also be offered in the United States beginning on March 10.

RADWIMPS composed over 22 tracks for your name.'s soundtrack, as well as the film's theme songs "Zen Zen Zense (movie ver.)," "Sparkle," "Yume Tōrō (movie ver.)," and "Nandemo Ii ya (movie edit/movie ver.)."

Funimation will open the film in the United States and Canada on April 7. The company will host film screenings in both the original Japanese with English subtitles and an English dub.

Funimation describes the film:

The day the stars fell, two lives changed forever. High schoolers Mitsuha and Taki are complete strangers living separate lives. But one night, they suddenly switch places. Mitsuha wakes up in Taki's body, and he in hers. This bizarre occurrence continues to happen randomly, and the two must adjust their lives around each other. Yet, somehow, it works. They build a connection and communicate by leaving notes, messages, and more importantly, an imprint.

When a dazzling comet lights up the night's sky, it dawns on them. They want something more from this connection—a chance to meet, an opportunity to truly know each other. Tugging at the string of fate, they try to find a way to each other. But distance isn't the only thing keeping them apart. Is their bond strong enough to face the cruel irony of time? Or is their meeting nothing more than a wish upon the stars?

The film opened in Japan last August, and has become the fourth highest-grossing film of all time in Japan, the second highest-grossing Japanese film, and the second highest-grossing anime film. As of Sunday, the film has earned 23.23 billion yen (about US$204 million) in Japan. The only Japanese film to gross higher is Spirited Away (30.8 billion yen).

As of last week, the film has earned US$281 million worldwide and topped Spirited Away in its worldwide box office total. While Spirited Away is still the highest grossing anime film domestically, your name. is the highest-grossing anime film worldwide.

The film is slated to open in 92 countries and territories. The anime has already earned box-office achievements in South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Taiwan, in addition to Japan. The Los Angeles Film Critics Association awarded the film with its Best Animated Film award in December.

yeah, there's a theater 40 miles (all highway driving) from where I work that is showing Your Name on April 7th, I believe - they haven't posted show times that far in advance yet, though, so I can't reserve a ticket yet.

I'll definitely be buying the UK Collector's Edition release over any US release, which I'm sure will just be in a boring blue Blu-ray case with a slip at most. I'll take the rigid side-load box, digipak, and book in a UK CE release any day!

Secured my tickets for an April 8th showing also! Will be my first time watching an anime movie in theatres. I'm very excited to experience a limited showing for this. Can't wait!

I already saw this movie early this year at my local theater, and it's the best movie from Makoto Shinkai that I have ever seen. This movie was nothing like the trailers, I didn't think the plot was more complex than what the trailers had shown and it was a big surprised. I'm going to see the movie again when it comes out in theaters again.

As for the BD release, I heard it's coming out in October of this year in Japan. I'm going to buy the JP version for sure, this needs to be watch at the absolute best quality available.

If the JP BD is English subtitled, then I will be getting that one for sure. I may still get the UK version if it's an LE with digipak, especially if the JP release is just a bare keep-case release like 5 centimeters - that way I'll have the best quality disc and nicest packaging, both...

Oh, and I did get my ticket for the April 7th 7:00 pm showing about a week ago...

The UK collectors set will also have the soundtrack included to, so another plus. Its at a bargain pre order price currently at £19.99 at places like Amazon. I expect that to more than likely to go up closer to release date so I ended up pre ordering now since they only charge on dispatch anyway.

Im expecting a side loading hardbox plus digipack as thats been AllTheAnime's Collectors Edition set up for pretty much everything

Lol, release date October 30, 2020....

I got my Mai Mai Miracle Kickstarter sooner than that, even...

I didn't see that the soundtrack CD was going to be included in the UK set, so yeah, JP/UK double-dip for me...

That's right, we might just get a bare bones disc for the JP release just like all the other Makoto Shinkai films.

I still can't pre-order tickets for this movie.

The JP release of "Garden of Words" included the soundtrack CD, so there's still a possibility of one for "your name."
Edit: NM, I forgot to consider that Radwimps' record label would still probably want people to buy the soundtrack album separately
