Unless S is truly an upgrade from the last two seasons, stick to the DVDs. I'm hoping that the quality will at least be better considering the flack Viz got and to see if they truly listened to complaints. I'll be cautiously optimistic.

With the release of s part 1 we will only need 5 more releases to complete the series of sailor moon classic. So all together 2 and a half seasons have been released which means we need 2 and a half seasons to go. After that we just need the movies and that's it. Then we can focus on crystal.

I'll find it really ballsy if Viz even release Stars in two sets for only 34 episodes.

They will. They said from the beginning that there would be 10 sets for SM Classic.

The SuperS specials will probably be included with Part 2, but I do like the idea of a separate set with all of the movies and specials bundled together. I also like the idea of each movie having its own case though, too. lol Ideally, a LE box that holds 3 blu-ray cases (maybe too bulky?) would be nice. They could just put the 3 SuperS specials with Ami's First Love and the movie. In reality though, the specials will likely be "bonuses" for their season/movies and we will either get just 1 set for the movies or each will have its own release.

It's been about 23 episodes per release already. Sure Stars is new to America, but there is no reason for it to be in 3 Parts and seems a little much to put 34 episodes in 1 release. 17-17 works perfectly for now.

If they really do a 17-17 split, I hope Viz won't be greedy enough to charge the same price as all the other sets.

If it's a Blu Ray + DVD combo, you bet it will be.

Not necessarily. There are a couple of releases that have at least more than 20ish episodes, a whole series mind you, in their packaging such as Nadia and Fullmetal Alchemist '03. Nothing like Gatchaman extreme but it's still doable. Viz is either prepping video quality between releases or simply they're just being greedy because this series has been out of print for a good decade. It's like what they're doing with Jojo's Bizarre Adventure releasing them in their individual "Parts" rather than "Seasons" though Season 3 was at least split into two parts but Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency were the same broadcast season.

Viz didn't release Fullmetal, FUNimation did. Comparing the two companies are like comparing apples and oranges. FUNimation is known as the "budget" company, and Viz charges an arm and a leg.

The other difference is this is a redub that's redubbing 200 episodes plus 3 movies and using those same actors for the reboot as well. Not even mentioning trying to make a Blu-ray release with what they got.

Fullmetal Alchemist uses the same dub that has had the whole series released like 4 times before going to Blu-ray which was made with Funimation knowing their license was expiring but wanted to make a Blu-ray release before that happens. Nadia is also another example of just using an old English Dub and just throwing it into a nice, big release.

The movies/specials will probably be in their own set, à la Ranma 1/2. They seem to be going with a rainbow theme on the box colors anyway, so if SuperS is green and Stars is blue, then that leaves the movies/specials with purple. All works out.

That's a valid point. Honestly I'd rather they just gave us non-PAL'd versions of those Italian DVDs or simply reuse Madman's releases but unfortunately neither is never gonna happen. I just want this show to at least be watchable without blurry footage and over saturation. I wouldn't even care if they even did 1080i.

There is no pink in the rainbow.

So far their boxes are: pink, orange, yellow.

If it was the rainbow, it would be: red, orange, yellow.

There's no purple either.

The colors of the rainbow are commonly believed to be Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. However on an episode of Cosmos, Neil deGrasse Tyson said Indigo isn't actually in the rainbow. So whether you believe a rainbow has 6 or 7 colors, purple is not one of them.

No. Purple is a darker shade than violet. Learn your colors.

Saying violet is purple is like calling fuchsia pink. They are two completely different colors.

It's absolutely ridiculous Amazon Canada is charging $90 for these sets now.

Sticking with the original DVDs.

You are correct, light when bent will break into those 7 colors. However, whether it's technically part of a rainbow itself or not, indigo has mostly been dropped as a color from most people's definitions of what the rainbow is. And purple, although technically not the same hue as violet, is more often than not used interchangeably when discussing the chromatic spectrum in a non-scientific way. Finally, while pink itself is not in the rainbow (and magenta doesn't even exist, but that's a topic for another day), it is a lighter shade of red. It is also often added after purple as the seventh color (replacing indigo), anyway, most likely due to its popularity. And you just know that they had to make the first box pink, for obvious reasons. I do firmly believe, however, that the chipboard boxes for SuperS and Stars will be green and blue, respectively.
