I don't know why they're so secretive about it -- their policy changed in May. I swear there used to be a help item or somesuch about it on Amazon itself, but I can only find a bunch of news articles on tech sites now.

They won't even match their own price if it drops between order and dispatch anymore (excepted for their pre-order guarantee, obviously). A few months back I ordered something when its price was fluctuating several times an hour, and ended up cancelling & re-ordering 7 or 8 times to get the best price.

They've been frustrating lately, it's really starting to turn me off.
I'm finding I'm ordering a lot more from the U.K. over the last couple of months.
I've got a couple of items on pre-order on Amazon US releasing this month, but after that, it'll be the first time for years I don't have any open orders with them.

Of course I realise that but as I explained to them the title has only been out 2 weeks so refusing the refund makes a nonsense of the preorder guarantee. Refusing a £9.99 refund yet accepting a return of my original box and sending me another one instead is stupid in the extreme

If every item had a significant price drop 2 weeks after it came out it would make the pre order guarantee farcical. I expect price drops to take a little while longer than 2 weeks. And its dropped a bit more today.
Makes you wonder if its worth bothering pre ordering items you know won't go out of stock so I've cancelled all except limited editions and a few very low priced items

Looks like there's been a few shakeups over at Amazon CS.
Yet as I posted above , I ordered the 3D Star Wars several days after the release and I had already read on here about the temporary drop to £13 but I was happy to pay £19.99 , then out of the blue they give me a £6.99 refund when I didn't even preorder.
There is a lack of consistency here

I sold my original release online and effectively got the 3D release for just under a £10.

When an Amazon CS rep insists on that being the only option I have, I usually contact them again and put it that way:

If I am allowed to return an item within 30 days of delivery and go through the hassle of a return AND a re-order to get the lower price, wouldn't it be better to just refund the price difference?
After saying that, the rep would immediately agree and refund the difference.

I actually got them to let me talk to a manager so she put her supervisor on - the chat popup changed colour and then back to white again indicating someone else was taking over the chat- but they told me the same. Despite being a Prime member for several years and an Amazon customer for 12 they wouldn't budge.
I think I will simply arrange a refund of the original box then when the new one arrives just send that one straight back , making the whole thing even more stupid than it already is

Edit - new set being delivered tomorrow. So when it arrives I'll simply put the return paperwork in the box , reseal it and send it back. Idiots aren't they?

They are the exact same discs as those in the original Saga release.

DTS bomb?

If you're referring to the delayed audio in that asteroid field scene in Attack of the Clones, that was never a mistake . It was meant to be that way

Hi. Can those who have copies of the UK 3D set tell me whether there is a slight 'ridge' near the left edge of the Han/Chewie image which appears to correspond with the disc holder on the reverse? This also appears to have left a slight indentation on the Falcon cockpit image where the two pages meet when closed. If this is common to all copies then that's fine - just want to make sure mine isn't damaged. Ta.

Carrie Fisher dies aged 60

Quote:
US actress Carrie Fisher, best known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars series, has died aged 60, days after suffering a cardiac arrest. Fisher was taken ill on a flight from London to LA on Friday and was taken to hospital when the plane landed.

A family statement, expressing a "a very deep sadness", announced she had died on Tuesday morning. Tributes have been pouring in, with Star Wars co-star Mark Hamill simply tweeting: "No words #devastated".
In a statement released on behalf of Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd, spokesman Simon Halls said: "It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8.55 this morning."She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers."

The daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher made her film debut opposite Warren Beatty in 1975's Shampoo. She also appeared in The Blues Brothers, When Harry Met Sally and Hannah and Her Sisters. But her enduring fame is through her role as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, a part she reprised in last year's reboot The Force Awakens.

On the part, she told the Daily Mail in 2011 that when she got the role in a "little science-fiction film", she just thought of it as a bit of fun. "It exploded across the firmament of pop culture, taking all of us along with it. It tricked me into becoming a star all on my own."
She was also a successful writer, publishing several novels and memoirs, and working on the scripts for films like the Wedding Singer and Sister Act. Her latest memoir, The Princess Diarist, contained revelations of an affair with Harrison Ford while the pair were shooting the first Star Wars film in 1976. Fisher endured a difficult private life, and has discussed her years of mental illness and drug addiction in interviews and writing. An early memoir was called Wishful Drinking.

The "Special Edition" discs of the original trilogy are currently £17.40 on Amazon.
Remember this set is just the 3 film discs, for the bulk of the extras you have to get one of the "Saga" sets which have 3 extras discs.

*Wild Speculation*
A 40th Anniversary Tribute has just been announced for Star Wars Celebration in April. They've said it will include "not-to-be-missed surprises". Might see a 40th anniversary remaster of the original theatrical release or possibly the rumoured 4K A New Hope announced at it.

Yep! I also read this: http://makingstarwars.net/2017/02/ru...released-year/

I'd be very surprised if Fox/Lucasfilm didn't at least announce the original Star Wars on Blu-ray at some point in 2017, considering it's the 40th anniversary. Obviously it would be even better if Disney and Fox could agree to release the original versions of all three OT films on Blu-ray - certainly the Holy Grail for most true Star Wars fans.

I only managed to get The Empire Strikes Back on DVD with the original version on the second disc before they all went OOP, and have the unedited version of Return of the Jedi on VHS somewhere...wouldn't mind upgrading those!
