I am stoked to get this on UHD! Also, $60 MSRP is a pretty good starting point for 6 hours of Real 4K content. This better be a demo worthy transfer!
---edit--- I wish they would do a 'Pole-to-Pole' two hour episode for theaters in 4K. It would be perfect for Fathom to pick-up. Last edited by RealorFake4K; 11-16-2016 at 12:30 AM. |

God I hope this supports HDR! Nature doc in 4k HDR would be pure visual heaven if those UHD HDR demos are anything to go by.

The whole point of BBC's Planet Earth II was that the entire program was shot in native 4k with the latest digital cameras. It will have consistent quality throughout whereas the original PE had a mix of various camera qualities; not all of them even HD grade.

I figured that this might be the first show released in UHD when David Attenborough mentioned it was shot in 4K on The Graham Norton Show. It does seem like it might be somewhat upscaled like the first series:

-Some footage on remote locations -Waiting for animals to turn up for the camera lens In episode two, I saw a RED Camera. So that is native 4K. |

Forgive me if I'm wrong but wasn't 'Planet Earth' the first 'TV on BD' release? My how time flies! Fitting if so that 'Planet Earth II' is the first 'TV on UHD' release. Hopefully the first of many!
EDIT: Just realised Sopranos beat it by a few months, but still, first BBC release! Last edited by BluRyan; 11-16-2016 at 06:22 PM. |
