Sad, but true. The heads of the movie business in the end aren't in the business of making movies; they're in the business of making money. Originality, depth and actual all-around quality are ultimately not of concern to them if it doesn't bring in enough greenback.
While I agree that most of the heads in the movie business are in it to make money, thats usually the case for most businesses. I can't blame him/her for wanting a movie to be profitable as long as on the consumer end the quality is there. While movie execs may be in it for the money, directors should usually be in charge of the direction and largely responsible for the success of the film. I think its still possible to make a good movie/remake with a greedy exec as long as you have good people producing and directing the movie.

Not so much for the other films but The Uninvited has much of a fanbase in the US for it to be enough of a pull for those fans. It has a base of some people who have seen the original but most of the people going to see it because they're interested in seeing a horror/thriller type movie that has an interesting premise. I also like that they included Elizabeth Banks in this, she should be good.

When I think greedy movie execs I think of Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder.
