it feels like an odd banner, unless they're going to re-release past movies with the same edition... that would be nice.

Amazon does have a pre-order now, but this site has no link.

Will those old orders be valid when the new one comes up?

I mean they didn't even say what version it was -- only "Blu-ray"

I was wondering the same thing. What makes the 3d version the "Cinematic Universe Edition" and not the 2d if everything else is the same?

wow, Marvel finally got on board and is putting the DC on BOTH versions and not just the 3D, same with the DVD part of the combo pack. I guess people got annoyed enough at that chintzy move

Maybe it is something the rebranded "Marvel Studios" will continue to do with all future Marvel movie releases.

Ugh, missed the pre-order. Waiting for Disney to put Moana, Pinocchio and Rogue One up for order in the US now through Amazon.
Amazon is being really annoying with pre-orders lately. Keeping my eye on this - will order the 3D from the States and probably buy the steelbook (minus the 3D) locally.

Maybe the Marvel Cinematic Universe banner will go on all future Disney and Sony film releases from now on, but be left off the ABC and Netflix Blu-ray releases, further emphasizing that Marvel Studios will continue to ignore Marvel Television entries.

Looks like I can go back to getting the standard release since it comes with a slipcover and a digital copy. Dating back to Thor: the Dark World, I've had to get the 3D release for that very reason.

But then I read that the IMAX switching scenes are only on the 3D release.

Decisions, decisions.

I bet they price the blu + digital at 20-22 dollars and the 3d at 25-27 dollars so you end up paying more for less this time. But ya you can celebrate that you payed extra money to get less product while disney all the way to the bank.

A 4K release over 3D would be a downgrade for this particular movie. This edition has all I'll ever need since I can't imagine ever viewing it in flat 2D in any format.

I saw it in 3d imax and it was really good.. there were many scenes that switched aspect ratio. over an hour or so.

How do you get less with the 3D?

He's saying that you get less for the same amount because now there won't be a 3D disc in the ~$20 set, where before it was a 3D/2D combo pack for the same price.

I read that newer TVs are dropping support for 3D, and I want to upgrade to a 4k TV and a UHD player. If I get a 4k TV that doesn't support 3D will I still be able to watch the 3D edition of Doctor Strange (albeit in 2D)?

No, you'll get a message saying "your television must be 3D compatible to play this disc" or something like that.

Don't know why the panels would be dropping 3D functionality, my new 4K player supports it - so what's the point?
