Which is ridiculous. I say take away.

I also loved how Maddin yelled BAG every time he put something in it.

Since when have Warner Archive just ported over the DVD master? The PQ on their releases are always top notch.

If I ever went there, I would just take the BBS Box Set, take out the copy of A Safe Place, give it to the Criterion employee and say: "Okay, this is the one I am NOT taking with me.", after which I would just proceed to fill up the van I would have waiting for me outside with the rest.

But then again, A Safe Place is on the same disc as Drive, He Said which I love so I guess I would have to take that one too.

When I saw him for the Q&A in Toronto for MOONLIGHT he seemed super humble.

Completely the opposite of Tom Ford, haha.

Jenkins is a real down to earth man. It was great seeing him pick some highly influential films in the closet. Moonlight is one amazing film too. Hope it wins at least one or two Oscars.

I think it's a better film than Le Samourai and yet you won't hear anyone clamoring for an in print release.

I've never met Tom Ford personally, or seen him in person for that matter. But I've seen him interviewed many times over the years, and he didn't strike me as full of himself. I mean, sure, he's aware of what he's accomplished over the years in the fashion world and now with a couple of quality films under his belt. But he always seems to be a thoughtful person who is gracious to all those he knows helped him in whatever endeavor he in which he was engaged.

Then again, I'm a big fan of not only his films but also his clothes (just wish I could afford one of his suits! ). So, maybe I'm biased.

I wonder if Criterion has ever shown interest in pursuing Birth (2004) for their Collection? It seems like such a no-brainer to me, but then again...

Some days, like today, the score comes on in my playlist, and I envision myself opening up the Criterion release of this gem, anxious to watch all the interviews and the faithful-to-source transfer.

C'mon, Criterion!

And don't forget the original trailer, which is masterful in its own right.

With Warner Archive, it's a crap shoot as to whether they port over the extras in SD, up-rez them to HD, or actually remaster them in HD (they've done all three). But they've never simply ported over the DVD masters of the films.

Oh I agree. Birth is such a powerful and unsettling film. And it is easily one of Nicole's best performances, and coming from someone who is as much of a fan as I am, that's saying something.

Wholeheartedly her peak for me. In my Film and Lit class in college I actually did a Scene Analysis of THAT scene, thinking it'd be the 'simplest' to discuss within our 1-page limit. BOY was I wrong. Ha ha! Just researching the diegetic music alone opened up this world for me in the film, and allowed me to absorb and adore it even more than I had before, which is what great film does for you.

And great college classes.

Will have to make it a point to see Moonlight, but Manchester By The Sea is a beautiful film.
