LOL...sorry but that made me laugh. The folks who run Fox are indeed stupid. They have always made wrong choices when it comes to their super hero franchises, almost as if they want to run them in the ground. They always micro manage their films and turn films that could have been great into something generic and/or mediocre. X-Men 3 is a prime example of stupidity. While the movie isn't the worse film in the world, killing off two major characters was totally unnecessary.

Unless they are making First Class a reboot instead of a prequel, then the original five concept is out the window as Bobby and Warren were both high school aged in Last Stand, whereas Hank, Jean and Scott were in the mid-late 20s or older. They can't put all 5 together unless they reboot.

Not very excited about this concept

X-Men 3 destroyed this franchise - I mean, it really pulvarized it dismantled everything good that had preceeded it. That Brett Ratner sure is thorough when killing a franchise.

Not in X-Men: First Class. He has his own First Class comic, naturally.

Indeed he does. That came about much later though (close to 2 years I think)

First Class is about the first 5 x-men - Angel, Beast (before the fur), Cyclops, Iceman, and Jean Grey (known as Marvel Girl at the time)

If the movie doesn't end up being about the original 5, than please don't call it 'First Class' Fox. Please just call it 'New X-men' or 'X-men Academy' or something like that.

Regardless of which X-men are in it, do you think we'll see Patrick Stewart? If they get a younger actor, anyone think he'll be signed for the Magneto movie too?

i disagree. i don't think the last x-men was great, but it was still decent. i thought they've handled the x-men franchise beautifully. creating some of the best comic book movies out there. and so what if they killed off two major characters. they do it all the time in comic books. in fact one of the major characters you're talking about is dead in the comics and has been dead for 4 years. it's ok for comics to kill off major characters, but it's not ok for a movie studio to do it? sure, fox has had some missteps with comic book movies, but none are nowhere as bad as the dismal returns of warner brothers. now there is a studio that manages to totally butcher comic book movies on what seems to be a routine basis.

(Executive pointing to Halle Berry salary demands: ) "That's what YOU think, pal!"

And stop to think about it, we still haven't had a post-Iron Man "homegrown" X-Movie yet, now that Marvel's minding its own store--
All things considered, we lucked out pretty well for getting three (yes, three) not-too-shabby comic-acceptable movies, in an unpredictable time when a flip of the coin, a lazily chosen director, or a loose-canon bit of studio bet-hedging, could just as well get you a "Fantastic Four", Ang Lee "Hulk" or "Captain America: the Goofy Retro-Spoof".

I'm all for seeing what Marvel can make under its own banner, even if we only have loopy memo-cleanup projects to judge by for the time being.
