Every WKW film in the Criterion Collection would be marvelous.

Just saw there's a House of Games essay under the spotlight on the site's front page. Hope it leads to an upgrade sometime soon.

Miramax, who Criterion initially licensed the film from, lost the rights. Criterion has since re-licensed it (and an unknown number of his other films) from WKW and word is that they are currently working on a new 4K remaster, which is supposed to be ready this summer. I assume that Chungking Express will be re-released using the new 4K master sometime in the 4th quarter (November most likely)

Nice! I recently borrowed a copy of the film and was blown away. It's my first WKW film. I'll be watching some of his other films throughout the week. Can't wait!

It's easily his worst film. However, it does have a great soundtrack and the slow motion scenes with Jude Law and Norah Jones are great.

Here is the source about Janus doing a new 4K master and here is film programmer C. Mason Wells confirming that Janus/Criterion has "basically have all of" WKW's films
