This will be my first Ultra HD Bluray. I plan on having several films good to
go when I finally get my setup in Autumn 2018.

Early reviews coming out. Very positive. Not only the story but also the imax presentation. (4k Blu Ray duel later this year)

The editor, Lee Smith, says, "70 something percent of the film is the full Imax format." And of course, the other ~30% is 5 perf 65mm film.

First time booking tickets at the BFI IMAX. I expected demand to be high, but not that high!

Could only get good seats for four on the Wednesday after release, managed to get the best seats in the house though.

Hope this 15/70 presentation lives up to the hype. Just seeing a through-and-through film production being projected on film will be good enough as is. Hard to find that nowadays if you're not living in a big city.

Booked mine for Monday 24th! Eeeeeeek!

This will be my 20th trip to the BFI IMAX and I fully expect Dunkirk to be one of the most thrilling out of all those visits.

I am glad you got seats and that demand was high. At the Minnesota IMAX there wasn't much demand at all. The Saturday July 22nd screenings were wide open. I came a few days after presales started and my afternoon showing only had 10 or so reserved tickets. I hope this movie does well!

I wish the IMAX theater I'm going to did reserved seats so I wouldn't have to worry about seats. Instead I'm gonna have to take a weekday off work to see an early matinee so I don't have to worry about getting there an hour early to get good seats.

Dunkirk (2017) - 3996x1818 4K 2.2:1

Quote:
We are writing to you in regards to the presentation ratio of ‘DUNKIRK’.
Filmmakers have finished the DCP in the 2.2:1 ratio.
The active image is 3996x1818 (2.2:1) within a 3996x2160 (1.85:1) container.
The film is intended to play in a FLAT presentation.
For SCOPE shaped screens, see below:
• Present the film in the Flat 1.85:1 aspect ratio
• Open side masking, Zoom lens to fit image top to bottom of screen, leaving bars left and right
• Do not present in the Scope 2.40:1 ratio, this could result in top and bottom of the image being
cropped

The IMAX theater is the only theater where I like reserve seating . Otherwise I have to get there over an hour early to wait in line. Not the end of the world but it's nice to know your seats are secure. Hopefully they will have reserve tickets for your theater as well.

If titanic turned out like KING KONG that would be excellent.

I get scared when i see black people at night in my white street, but i guess black people would be scared if they saw me in the middle of the night on a "black" street.

Titanic 4K should've dropped this year for the 20th anniversary. I guess Cameron's a busy boy.

I think he truly does see that as a gimmick.

I saw this at the BFI Southbank last night in NFT 1 in 70mm / Datasat and it looked and sounded fantastic, also the best film I have seen in years.
