ESPN's Jeff Darlington reports Jay Cutler is "leaning heavily" toward staying retired.
The news comes as a surprise after Cutler told coach Adam Gase he was interested in playing for Miami. The Dolphins were in contract talks with Cutler on Friday, but it's possible they may not have offered enough to sway him from retirement. It's still too early to rule out Cutler-to-Miami given his ties to Gase. There should be more clarity on Cutler when a decision on Ryan Tannehill (knee) is made.
