I am looking for a new subwoofer

I have a set of Sony speakers that came with 8' subwoofer that does not hit all that deep. I am looking for a new sub that will play a lot deeper. It has to be good for a music (since I smaller speakers that can't reproduce any bass) even though I listen to a whole lot more movies though it.


I as looking at a Velodyne 12 DSP I heared a 12 or a 15 playing the Matrix and I thought it had DTS ( it was just the DVD) sound on the disk. It was by far the best bass reproduction that I had heared out side of the movie theaters.

Can you give me hints as to what I should look for when buying a bass.
