Why do the very saturation, population, and density of this dystopian cityscape leave one with a sense of sterility where there should be depth, beauty and meaning?

"Imagine my amazement when, years later and as a more learned film critic, I came to realize that all of my thematic “complaints” were actually at the very heart of what Blade Runner was trying to say all along. Buried beneath its twinkling metallic luster and dank, rain-drenched streets was a searing statement on our lost humanity – stifled nearly out long ago by our collective over-reliance on technology and its inevitable consequence of an ever-escalating detachment from one another. I find a film like Blade Runner, which seemed so cold and distant in the 1980’s, nothing if not eerily prescient as I reflect on it now in 2017."
This has been the source of my anger at the "Deckard is a replicant" BS. It completely undermines the real meaning of the film.

Mine from HMV was dispatched on Monday, but nothing has arrived yet.
Did anyone else have a copy delivered from HMV yet?

So, when's Besson's best film (Subway) getting UHD?

Stunning atmos track. You can tell a lot of care was put into the remixing. The rain effects are so prominent on the overheads, as well as the score throughout the movie. Everything sounds so clean, while retaining the original effects tracks but tweaking ever so slightly to raise the dynamics. Its a testament to both the remix itself, and utilizing atmos to great effect.

Highlights:
Fly bys of cars in any cityscape scene. Moving from rear channels to front.
Gunshots more dynamic
Any rain scene
Deckard in car in police swep

Then, at 6:00 pm, a new e-mail saying it's been shipped, but with an arrival date of September 14. Seriously? They're *walking* it from Tennessee to Texas?

At this speed, the "Lost Horizon" UHD might just arrive first.
Same thing happened to me yesterday. I got the e-mail in the evening saying it had shipped with an expected arrival date of 9/14. Now I am in Katy, so maybe Harvey is impacting the delivery, although an extra week does seem excessive.

Are there any codes on the outside of the packaging to indicate any revisions with the correct discs? I looked through the thread for something I could see when I grab this later today, but didn't see anyone posting any visual differences. Thanks.

The 2-disc UK version came out on Monday as planned. The 4-disc edition will be out on the 25th, I think.

I almost ordered from Amazon.com. It's super expensive though.
I kept checking every Canadian retailer for this release. It's available in-store at Best Buy for $40, even though it's not listed online.

What's up with some of Warner's 4K releases being so hard to find? None of the Best Buy's in my area got them in on Tuesday but I just ordered one from Target.com, should be here Friday!!

It's lively and well made and mixed, but it's 100% not authentic to a film of it's age.

At least they put it out a month before the sequel. If it was this hard to find AND 2049 was coming out next week, then we'd have a problem.

As if that was a bad thing. They just enhanced the original elements with more placement precision that was appropriate for the scene, they didn't go full Lucas.

Like I mentioned before, CE3K could have benefited mightily from an Atmos overhaul.

I received my copy from Amazon yesterday. Looks like I received Disc 3 from the original BD set (the disc with the different cuts) instead of Disc 4 (the extras DVD). Can't say I really care since I still have the 3 disc 30th Anniversary Unicorn Digibook.

Completely agree. The HDR transfer is excellent and the Atmos soundtrack is outstanding. I have a modest 5.1.2 Atmos system (with Pioneer up-firing Atmos modules). I cranked the volume up on my AVR and the sound filled the room. It was very immersive with excellent use of the surround speakers and sub-woofer. The dialogue out of my center speaker was crystal clear.

Just gave it a listen on my €5 earbuds with no working right ear.

Can confirm, the Atmos track is breathtaking.

It is a bad thing if the original soundtrack is not an option.
CGI is added to a film and people lose their minds.
More channels / effects are added and people forget it's the same thing for audio.

More effects weren't added, they just have better steering than the locked off channel based track, which had already been remixed once before and few complained.

I bet this Atmos track would sound amazing in a Trinnov Altitude equipped theater.
